  • Patent number: 6315096
Abstract: A friction engaging device capable of obtaining a large transfer torque capacity with a compact and simple construction and smoothly connecting and disconnecting friction engaged members. A wet type multi-disc clutch has a clutch case, a hub and a main clutch. A variable length joint is provided between an inner cylindrical portion of the clutch case and a cylindrical portion of the hub. The variable length joint is constructed mainly of a first cam plate so held as to be slidable in the axial direction on the hub, a second cam plate so held as to be rotatable relatively to the clutch case, and a plurality of rollers interposed between the first and second cam plates. A tube type clutch for making the second cam plate and the clutch case frictionally engage with each other, is provided in a gap between the second cam plate and the inner cylindrical portion of the clutch case.

  • Patent number: 6182802
Abstract: An elastic-tube-operated brake band is used by arranging it between an inner member and an outer member. The brake band includes a ring-shaped strap with a friction material fixedly secured on a circumferential surface thereof. The brake band is also with an elastic tube which is arranged on a side of an opposite circumferential surface of the ring-shaped strap. By a pressure produced by charging pressure fluid into the tube, the friction material is brought into engagement with a counterpart via the ring-shaped strap to transmit a torque between the inner member and the outer member. The ring-shaped strap is fixed at opposite ends thereof with play in a circumferential direction, respectively.

  • Patent number: 6089358
Abstract: A tube-pressed brake band is arranged between inner and outer rings having a common center to stop rotation of one of the inner and outer rings as a counterpart by inflating a ring-shaped tube, which is inflatable in a radial direction of the brake band, into engagement with the counterpart. The tube-pressed brake band has a ring-shaped strap arranged between the counterpart and the tube and relative to an angular direction, is fixed at an end thereof on the other one of the inner and outer rings.

  • Patent number: 5855518
Abstract: A damper device for rotary motion is disclosed which is small in size, has an excellent durability and can optionally change damping characteristics from the outside. Rotation of an input shaft is transmitted to a cylinder tube through a rotation transmitting device of loading cam type, thereby rotating an output shaft engaged with the cylinder tube through splines. When the rotational speed and torque of power to be transmitted is fluctuated, the cylinder tube is displaced against the resiliency of a conical plate spring and the volume of a pressure chamber is reduced. A viscous liquid in the pressure chamber is then discharged to the outside through a throttle hole. A relative displacement between the input and output shafts absorbs vibrations in terms of energy corresponding to the product of the mass and changes in the angular speed of members which are displaced in synch with the input shaft.

  • Patent number: 5845756
Abstract: In addition to a first oil pump directly connected to an engine, a second oil pump is provided which is driven by an electric motor. Accordingly, a start clutch engaging pressure is applied through first and second solenoid-operated valves. The electric motor-driven pump is of the constant pressure type, and therefore its start, at the start of the automobile, can be achieved with a simple control program. After the start of the automobile, the solenoid-operated valve is switched over to the other one, so that the oil pressure is applied from the first oil pump directly connected to the engine, whereby the battery power consumption is minimized. This oil circuit is applied to various kinds of friction engagement clutches.
