  • Patent number: 5324873
Abstract: Hydrogen fluoride and 1,1,1-trifluoro-2-chloroethane forms an azeotropic mixture. A mixture comprising hydrogen fluoride and 1,1,1-trifluoro-2-chloroethane is phase separated when it is cooled to a temperature below 7.degree. C. 1,1,1-Trifluoro-2-chloroethane is purified effectively from the mixture by cooling the mixture to form an upper liquid phase and a lower liquid phase and distilling the lower liquid phase so that the hydrogen fluoride is removed as an azeotropic distillate and 1,1,1-trifluoro-2-chloroethane substantially free from hydrogen fluoride is obtained as a bottom product.

  • Patent number: 4840837
Abstract: A heat transfer medium composed of a base material having thereon in order outwardly from the base material;(a) a colorless or light color heat-fusible transfer layer (A) containing from about 55 to 95 wt % of a wax and from about 5 to 45 wt % of a thermoplastic resin compatible with the wax, based on the whole amount of layer (A); and(b) a heat-softenable ink layer (B) containing from about 50 to 90 wt % of a thermoplastic resin incompatible with the wax in the layer (A) and having adhesion upon heating, from about 3 to 30 wt % of a heat-fusible lubricant, and a coloring material, based on the whole amount of layer (B);the viscosity of layer (A) being from about 100 c.p. to 1,000 c.p. at a temperature 20.degree. C. higher than the melting point of layer (A) shown by a differential scanning calorimeter. The heat transfer medium provides transferred images excellent in rubbing resistance and distinctness.

  • Patent number: 4684591
Abstract: An active material for batteries or cells having improved discharge characteristics and comprising a fluorinated graphite produced by fluorination of graphite with fluorine, the fluorinated graphite containing substantially no unreacted graphite and having a degree of fluorination such that the weight or fluorine content thereof is increased by a further fluorination under conditions equal to or severer than the fluorination conditions adopted to the production of the fluorinated graphite. The use of artificial graphite having a Franklin's P-value of at least 0.45 as a starting material is effective for further improving the discharge voltage and the capacity.
