Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for implementing a task assignment protocol. In one or more embodiments, a task management system receives task data and resource data. Responsive to the receipt, the task management system receives input for selection of a resource. A candidate subset of tasks that match the properties of the resource is then identified. Upon receipt of selection of the candidate task, a task icon updates. The task icon may update to reflect the resource identifier associated the assigned resource. Additionally, or alternatively, a resource icon is updated to reflect the availability of the resource. The protocol repeats until one or more resources are allocated to the tasks. A resource chart additionally displays to aid in evaluation of resource availability.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide systems and methods for defining and executing custom business rules to influence or control execution of a business process and allowing software providers to deliver externally extensible business applications which in turn allow customers of those applications to implement their own business rules and conditions using a browser based UI, without modifying the actual code in the base application. A user interface (UI) based business rule configurator allows users to define business rules and conditions that can be executed by a rules engine integrated with the client extensions and no custom code is required for business users to extend the business logic and no future custom code maintenance is required.

Abstract: Embodiments of this invention relate generally to updating a project plan in accordance with an input. A user may have a limited set of privileges to update the project plan compared to a manager. The manager may provide a threshold value relating to a type of change that may be made to a master version project plan. Next, the user may access the master project plan, and provide an input relating to a proposed change. From the change, a change value may be derived, and the change value may be compared to the threshold value to determine whether the change value violates the threshold value. If the change value violates the threshold value, a change exception may be generated, and the manager may be notified that the proposed change requires review. If the change value does not violate the threshold value, then the master project plan may be immediately updated.
