  • Patent number: 9850695
Abstract: A door restraint system includes a retractor, a retractor brake, and a retractor-deployed stay for selectively restraining opening of a vehicle door. The retractor-deployed stay is configured to spool to and from the retractor as vehicle door is translated between a closed configuration and one or more opened configurations. Door check systems including the door restraint system are described.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 14, 2016
Date of Patent: December 26, 2017
    Assignee: Ford Global Technologies LLC
Inventors: Yunuen Torres Fernandez, Saulo Da Cortes Cervantes, Jorge Guillermo Barrios Albert

  • Patent number: 9739195
Abstract: A system for increasing air flow across a heat exchanger of a vehicle is described. In one particular example, the system comprises a charge-air cooler coupled via upper and lower brackets to a vehicle body, and an axial dual fan connected to the upper and lower brackets via one or more isolators. With this arrangement, the cooling system described allows for vehicle performance to be enhanced while also increasing the durability and robustness of the system and reducing the noise produced therefrom.

  • Patent number: 9683580
Abstract: A cooling fan shroud for an internal combustion engine has a fan port including a fixed cylindrical segment and a movable cylindrical segment mounted by a hinge. A pivot plate on the movable cylindrical segment is compressed with a base plate on a shroud main body so that a loading rib on one plate provides a frictional resistance. A dual-position locking mechanism retains the movable cylindrical segment in an extended position or a retracted position. The mechanism is comprised of a tab extending from the movable cylindrical segment and a ratchet pocket in the main body receiving the tab, wherein the ratchet pocket has a pair of stop notches separated by a deflector rib. The movable cylindrical segment is bendable to allow the tab to ride over the deflector rib in response to a predetermined pivot force applied to the movable cylindrical segment.
