    Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for providing voice control of a system, an ultrasound system for example. One embodiment of the present invention relates to a method of forming a generic input device used in an ultrasound system and responsive to at least one voice command. In at least one embodiment, the method comprises forming at least one display in the generic input device, the display having at least one tab associated therewith. The method further comprises defining a grid layout on at least one display and associating at least one control of the ultrasound system with at least one of the tab and the grid layout. At least one voice command is associated with at least one of the tab and grid layout.
