  • Patent number: 8224867
Abstract: A system and method link one or more disparate datasets with one or more spatial layers to create linked datasets. One or more data attributes common to the dataset and the spatial layer are identified, and the linkage is defined between the dataset and the spatial layer. The spatial layer and the linked data set then may be queried using a single input query. Features from the spatial layer and features from the linked dataset that match the query are generated for display.

  • Publication number: 20110285516
Abstract: This invention relates to methods and systems for providing data from a distributed array. In one aspect, the array is a sensor array that includes sensor nodes that are each associated with one or more sensors, and the data includes sensor data acquired from the sensors by the sensor nodes. The sensor array employs modular and interchangeable sensor nodes that are capable of self-organizing in response to a network disruption while maintaining a flow of synchronized data to the event monitor. This self-organizing characteristic enables the overall network of nodes to be self-healing and easily extensible. The improved fault resilience makes it possible to deploy the sensors without requiring complex monitoring or fault diagnosis. Embodiments of the invention can be employed in any number of applications, including without limitation, tunnel activity detection, seismic/acoustic monitoring/detection and other applications where gathering sensor data may be desired.

  • Patent number: 8062361
Abstract: An accommodating intraocular lens implantable in an eye. The lens comprises an anterior portion having an anterior biasing element and an anterior optic having refractive power. The lens further comprises a posterior portion having a posterior biasing element and a posterior optic having refractive power. The anterior optic and the posterior optic are relatively moveable in response to action of the ciliary muscle to change the separation between the optics and the refractive power of the lens. The lens has an aberration-inducing force characteristic of about 70 mg to about 115 mg to allow aberration-inducing relative movement of the optics when the lens is in the eye, thereby adding optical aberration to the lens which increases depth of focus of the lens. In one variation, the lens has an aberration-inducing force characteristic of 70 mg to 115 mg. Related methods are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8046310
Abstract: A system and method links one or more disparate community awareness management (CAM) datasets for a community awareness program (CAP) with one or more spatial layers to create linked CAM datasets. One or more data attributes common to a CAM dataset and a spatial layer are identified, and the link is defined between the CAM dataset and the spatial layer. The spatial layer and the linked CAM dataset then may be queried using a single input query. Features from the spatial layer and features from the linked CAM dataset that match the query are generated for display. In one embodiment, a system and method manage CAP assets, transactions, interest areas for the CAP, and buffer areas for the CAP. An audience utility enables entering and maintaining audience data for the CAP. A journal utility enables making journal entries for one or more audience members, CAP assets, transactions, and/or other CAM data. A link document utility enables linking one or more documents to CAM data.

  • Patent number: 8021617
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for measuring sulfur trioxide/sulfuric acid content of flue gas. A probe is provided that extracts two separate lines of gas samples simultaneously from the flue gas. One of the two lines is dynamically spiked with a known quantity of sulfur trioxide, preferably generated in the probe. A comparison of sulfur trioxide/sulfuric acid content measurements from the spiked and unspiked lines helps identify and adjust for inherent biases in the measuring system. Also disclosed are catalyst structures and methods for use thereof for generating sulfur trioxide at known concentration.

  • Publication number: 20110034340
Abstract: The present invention discloses systems and methods for minimizing or eliminating steps in immunosorbent assays for single and multiple analytes by eliminating both the need to attach target molecules to the test well and the need to remove unbound antibodies through rinsing. The immunosorbent assay (ISA) is utilized for a single analyte or target and includes the step of mixing the immunologic molecules with the sample and detection. The present invention further discloses an immunosorbent assay for multiple analytes (ISAMA) for testing a plurality of analytes or targets in a single well using a modified ISA test wherein different tags are attached to different antibody pairs. Alternate embodiments use multiple types of scavenger antigens with corresponding elimination of the need for scavenger antibodies. The present invention discloses various types of test wells for the rapid and simultaneous testing of fluids for a plurality of components and a methodology for a continuous immunosorbent assay.

  • Patent number: 7870126
Abstract: A campaign management system manages campaign data for one or more campaigns and geospatial data for areas in which the campaigns are directed. The system performs spatial queries, data queries, and/or geocode-based queries, generates maps geographically identifying where campaign events are occurring in the geographic area, and generates feature data for display. Campaign symbology, such as shading, color coding, patterns, icons, or other symbols identify one or more campaign events in the geographic area.

  • Patent number: 7864697
Abstract: Provided is a method of determining a spectrum management of digital communication systems having a plurality of communication lines by determination of the power levels within each band, for each user, assuming a predetermined maximum interference from other users. The spectral management center has a power allocation determinator for receiving a modelled power level and a noise weight from each user communication line and is able to determine allocated power of its respective communication line based on the optimised determined power needs of the plurality of communication lines of the digital communication systems. In one form the calculations are undertaken in the SMC. In another form the master is undertaken in the SMC while the slave is undertaken at the user's modem and the power level of an individual communication line and its interference by adjacent lines is determined at the user's modem and communicated to the spectral management center.
