Patent number: 11500853Abstract: A virtual data store system comprises a network interface and a processing device operable to access a source database of data records comprising data, wherein an entity is enabled to utilize the virtual data store system as a database. A verification query is formulated with respect to a data record, that stores an item of data, which is transmitted to online network sources via a proxy service. A query response is parsed and in response to determining that the item of data in the data record is potentially present in the parsed response, a corresponding confidence score is generated. If the confidence score is below a first threshold, a subsequent verification operation is performed. If the subsequent verification operation fails, the second item of data is deleted from memory to conserve memory resources. The data record may be accessed from the virtual data store and used to initiate a networked communication.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 2021Date of Patent: November 15, 2022Assignee: Live Data Technologies, Inc.Inventor: James Scott Hamilton

Patent number: 11422743Abstract: A distributed storage system includes a primary storage system and a secondary storage system. The secondary storage system stores the actual data and the primary storage system stores metadata for the actual data. The metadata references at the primary storage system may be deleted without deleting the corresponding data at the secondary storage system. Snapshots of the metadata at the primary storage system are sent to the secondary storage system. The secondary storage system can compare two metadata snapshots received from the primary storage in order to determine whether data stored at the secondary storage system has been deleted at the primary storage system for longer than a retention period. Such data may be deleted to free up storage space at the secondary storage server.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2020Date of Patent: August 23, 2022Assignee: SAP SEInventors: Vivek Kandiyanallur, Jia Feng, Alexander Chernavin, Chitong Chung, Shyam Sunder Reddy Avula, Xin Guo, Scott Hamilton, Clay Jacobs, Christopher de Castro, Kaushik Ghosh

Patent number: 10491309Abstract: A multi-rate, burst-mode, photon-counting receiver can communicate at data rates up to 10.416 Mb/s over a 30-foot water channel. With added attenuation, the maximum link loss is 97.1 dB at ?=517 nm. In clear ocean water, this equates to link distances up to 148 meters. For ?=470 nm, the achievable link distance in clear ocean water is 450 meters. The receiver incorporates soft-decision forward error correction (FEC) that supports multiple code rates to achieve error-free performance. A burst-mode receiver architecture provides robust performance with respect to unpredictable channel obstructions. The receiver can detect the data rate on-the-fly and adapts to changing levels of signal and background light. The receiver updates its phase alignment and channel estimates every frame, allowing for rapid changes in water quality as well as motion between transmitter and receiver.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 2017Date of Patent: November 26, 2019Assignee: Massachusetts Institute of TechnologyInventors: Hemonth Rao, Andrew Fletcher, Scott Hamilton, Nicholas Hardy, Marvin Scheinbart

Publication number: 20190295452Abstract: A method for preventing image retention in an electronic display, and an electronic display configured to perform such a method. A time period and a pixel threshold may be defined. A checksum calculation of all pixel data within an active image area of the electronic display is preferably performed during the predetermined period of time. A checksum calculation is then performed to determine if the change in pixel data during the period of time is less than the pixel threshold. If not, an image retention prevention procedure is conducted for each area of the active image area of the display where the threshold value was not met. Generally, the image retention prevention procedure includes transmitting alternate pixel data to at least a portion of the pixels within the subject area.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 10, 2019Publication date: September 26, 2019Inventors: William Dunn, Scott Hamilton, David Williams, Gerald Fraschilla
