    Abstract: An embedded magnetic component device includes a magnetic core located in a cavity extending into an insulating substrate. The cavity and magnetic core are coved with a cover layer. Through holes extend through the cover layer and the insulating substrate, and are plated to define conductive vias. Metallic traces are provided at exterior surfaces of the cover layer and the insulating substrate to define upper and lower winding layers. The metallic traces and conductive vias define the respective primary and secondary side windings for an embedded transformer. At least a first isolation barrier is provided on the cover layer, and at least a third insulating layer is provided on the substrate. The second and third insulating layers provide additional insulation for the device, and define and function as a circuit board for surface mounted power electronics.

Generated TALPs can be enhanced through merging with other TALPs. TALPs can be grouped by matching the outputs of the TALP-associated prediction polynomials with some set of given criteria into families and cross-families that are useful in a new type of software optimization that allows for output values of grouped TALPs to be modeled, pooled, discretized and optimized to enhance goals or meet user goals.

    Abstract: A pixelated-LED chip includes an active layer with active layer portions, segregated by streets, that are configured to illuminate different light-transmissive substrate portions to form pixels. A light extraction surface of each substrate portion includes protruding features and light extraction surface recesses that may be formed by sawing. Underfill material may be provided between a pixelated-LED chip and a mounting surface, as well as between pixels and between anodes and cathodes thereof. Certain implementations provide light extraction surface recesses that are non-parallel to each street defined through the active layer. Certain implementations provide light extraction surface recesses that are non-aligned with (e.g., non-parallel to) anode-cathode boundaries of each anode-cathode pair. Such arrangements reduce a likelihood of cracking in portions of a pixelated-LED chip. Methods for fabricating pixelated-LED chips are also provided.
