  • Patent number: 11977874
Abstract: Methods and systems for monitoring use, determining risk, and pricing insurance policies for a vehicle having one or more autonomous or semi-autonomous operation features are provided. According to certain aspects, an identity of a vehicle operator may be determined and a vehicle operator profile and/or operating data regarding autonomous operation features of the vehicle may be received after the vehicle operator opts into a rewards program and agrees to share their data. Autonomous operation and vehicle operator risk levels associated with operation of the autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle may be determined. Based upon the risk levels and/or comparison thereof, one or more autonomous operation features may be disengaged. A preparedness level of the vehicle operator to assume or reassume control of operating the vehicle is determined prior to disengagement. If satisfactory, an alert is presented to the vehicle operator prior to disengagement of the autonomous operation features.

  • Patent number: 11954482
Abstract: According to certain aspects, a computer-implemented method for operating an autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle may be provided. With the customer's permission, an identity of a vehicle operator may be identified and a vehicle operator profile may be retrieved. Operating data regarding autonomous operation features operating the vehicle may be received from vehicle-mounted sensors. When a request to disable an autonomous feature is received, a risk level for the autonomous feature is determined and compared with a driver behavior setting for the autonomous feature stored in the vehicle operator profile. Based upon the risk level comparison, the autonomous vehicle retains control of vehicle or the autonomous feature is disengaged depending upon which is the safer driver—the autonomous vehicle or the vehicle human occupant. As a result, unsafe disengagement of self-driving functionality for autonomous vehicles may be alleviated.

  • Patent number: 11956609
Abstract: A context-aware voice guidance method is provided that interacts with other voice services of a user device. The voice guidance does not provide audible guidance while the user is making a verbal request to any of the voice-activated services. Instead, the voice guidance transcribes its output on the screen while the verbal requests from the user are received. In some embodiments, the voice guidance only provides a short warning sound to get the user's attention while the user is speaking on a phone call or another voice-activated service is providing audible response to the user's inquires. The voice guidance in some embodiments distinguishes between music that can be ducked and spoken words, for example from an audiobook, that the user wants to pause instead of being skipped. The voice guidance ducks music but pauses spoken words of an audio book in order to provide voice guidance to the user.

  • Publication number: 20240074705
Abstract: A medical device includes a processor, an acceleration sensor, and memory. The acceleration sensor is configured to generate acceleration data that comprises a plurality of acceleration measurements. The memory comprises instructions that when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: obtain the acceleration data from the acceleration sensor; and determine, based on the acceleration data, that the medical device has flipped.

  • Publication number: 20240008812
Abstract: Described is a wrist wearable device with non-invasive sensing for the detection, prediction, screening, abstention, or treatment of alcohol, drug use or abuse. In one embodiment, a device (100) includes a substance sensor (108) supported by the device (100). The substance sensor (108) may be any suitable sensor. As show, the device (100) is a wrist wearable device with a case (102), an attachment (104), and a substance sensor (108) supported by the case (102). The attachment (104) as shown is a one-piece band with a coupler (112). The device (100) may communicate with a mobile device such as a phone and, in turn, with a remote processing platform. The remote processing platform can use information from the device (100) for identification of the subject and detection of a condition of the subject in relation to consumption of alcohol or us of other substances, among other things.

  • Publication number: 20230339301
Abstract: Disclosed is an insertable roll-up door for a vehicle. The door is formed from a header, left and right guide members and, optionally, a bottom sill. The header, guide members, and sill are assembled at a first geographic location to form a dimensionally stable subassembly. A flexible door panel and roller are installed in the subassembly. The top end of the door panel is connected with the roller. Ends of the roller are received at top portions of the guide members and the roller is supported to rotate about a roller axis. Rotation of the roller winds the door panel onto and off from the roller. Edges of the door panel are guided by the guide members to move vertically to open and close the door. The assembled door is shipped to a second location to be installed on a vehicle. At the second location, an opening is created in the vehicle sized to receive the door. The door is inserted in the opening and fixed to the vehicle with fasteners.

  • Publication number: 20230311261
Abstract: Multiple uses of lathes exist where a cutting or scraping tool is initially employed to remove material generating particulates with a range of sizes from shavings and chippings to fine dust. Subsequently, sanding to smooth the surface of all or parts of the piece to the desired smoothness generates particulates with a size range dependent upon the abrasive used but are typically small in dimension and commonly referred to as dust. Without any control of this removed material it creates a mess and a health hazard particularly for the lathe operator and others in the vicinity from aspiration of the dust. Accordingly, it would be beneficial to provide lathe operators, enterprises employing lathe operators, etc. with a system that provides for removal of the chippings, shavings, and dust whilst allowing the user to employ the shaping tools and abrasives to achieve the desired result.
