Publication number: 20220178808Abstract: The present invention relates to a process and apparatus for quantifying solid residue on a sample. The process includes using a solid substrate and an aerosolizing device, adding a solid material to the aerosolizing device, forming a particle cloud of solid particles, wherein at least 1% of the mass concentration of solid particles have a mass median aerodynamic particle diameter up to about 10 ?m, thus applying the solid particles to the solid substrate(s) to form treated substrate(s), maintaining at a temperature of from about 30 to about 120° C. for at least a portion of the process, and removing a portion of solid particles from the treated substrate(s), and analyzing said at least one sample. The present invention further comprises an apparatus for applying solid particles to a substrate. The process can be used, for example, to analyze the dirt pickup resistance of a solid sample.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 26, 2020Publication date: June 9, 2022Applicant: THE CHEMOURS COMPANY FC, LLCInventors: SCOTT C. Patent number: 7799085Abstract: A modular knee implant system allows a surgeon to select between several different styles of distal femoral implant components and several different styles of stem extensions while also allowing for use of a metaphyseal component. The metaphyseal component can be a universal one that is usable with all of the styles of distal femoral implant components through use of an adapter. A second adapter allows for use of stem extensions with different types of connectors with the metaphyseal component. A separate metaphyseal component could also be provided with a distal Morse taper post to mate with a distal femoral component having a proximal Morse taper bore. The metaphyseal component may have an outer surface that is configured to maximize contact area with the patient's bone, and may have a surface finish over a substantial part of its overall length that is conducive to bone ingrowth.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 2004Date of Patent: September 21, 2010Assignee: Depuy Products, Inc.Inventors: Gary P. Goodfried, Stephen A. Hazebrouck, Mark B. Lester, Scott C. Brown

Patent number: 7435263Abstract: A modular long bone prosthesis is provided having a proximal component and a retroversion component. The proximal component is configured at a proximal end to receive a head forming a portion of a joint and is formed at a distal end to mate with additional prosthesis components. The proximal component is formed to simulate an angle inherent in the proximal end of the bone to be replaced and includes an indicator adjacent the distal end to facilitate rotational alignment of the proximal component and additional prosthesis components. The retroversion component includes a proximal end configured to mate with the distal end of the proximal component. The proximal end includes alignment indicia for positioning relative to the indicator on the proximal component.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2003Date of Patent: October 14, 2008Assignee: DePuy Products, Inc.Inventors: Gary D. Patent number: 7198642Abstract: Two spacer components and a retaining ring are part of an orthopaedic system. The system may also include trial or implant stem components that are inserted or implanted in the proximal and distal ends of the long bone. One spacer segment has a male portion and the other spacer segment has a transverse female slot. The male portion and female slot are positioned to allow the male portion to be moved into and out of the female slot in a direction other than the proximal-distal direction. The retaining ring is then threaded into a locked position to limit relative movement between the male portion and female slot. The spacer segments can thus be connected after the segments have been connected to the native bone without damaging the soft tissue at the native bone through distraction.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2004Date of Patent: April 3, 2007Assignee: Depuy Products, Inc.Inventors: Stephen A. Hazebrouck, Scott C. Brown

Patent number: 7191431Abstract: A system and method for automatically selecting a translator to translate a component request using semantic typing is presented. A mediator receives a component request from a first component that requests to invoke a second component. The mediator retrieves a launch target identifier and a requester provided property type identifier from the component request. The requester provided property type identifier includes semantic typing corresponding to a data value. The mediator retrieves a recipient input property type identifier corresponding to the launch target identifier, and uses the requester provided property type identifier and the recipient input property type identifier to select a translator. The mediator passes a data value included in the component request to the selected translator, and receives a translated data value from the translator. The mediator constructs a property using the translated data value and includes the constructed property in a call that is sent to the second component.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2002Date of Patent: March 13, 2007Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Scott C. Brown, Radhika Ramakrishnan, Billy R. Rowe, Jr., Edward C. Satler, John P. Whitfield
