  • Patent number: 10636166
Abstract: Systems and methods for correlating visual content in 2D and 3D scenes of a geographical region can include at least one data source for providing geographical data, a display device of an aircraft, and a processor. The display device can display a 2D view and a 3D view representing top-down views of the geographical region using data received from the data source(s). The processor(s) can identify a first image point within the 2D view referenced by a first cursor of the 2D view. The processor(s) can determine, using information received from the at least one data source, a geographical location corresponding to the first image point. The processor(s) can determine a second image point within the 3D view corresponding to the determined geographical location. The processor(s) can position a second visual indicator of the 3D view to reference the determined second image point within the 3D view.

  • Patent number: 10032311
Abstract: Present novel and non-trivial system, device, and method for enhancing a three-dimensional synthetic image are disclosed. The image generating system is comprised of a first image data source, a second image data source, an image processing unit (“IPU”), and a display system. The IPU may be configured to receive first image data of a first image of a first external scene produced from object data; receive second image data of a second image of a second external scene produced from point cloud data acquired by one or more image capturing devices or object data augmented with point cloud data; combine the first image data with the second image data to produce third image data of a third image of the first external scene; and provide the third image data set to the display system. Fourth image data could be received and included in the production of the three image data.

  • Patent number: 9584791
Abstract: Present novel and non-trivial system, device, and method for correcting misaligned images are disclosed. A system may be comprised of a source of first model data, a source of second model data, and an image generator (“IG”). The IG may be configured to perform a method comprised of receiving first model data representative of a first three-dimensional model; determining feature data of one or more first features located in an outside scene; receiving second model data representative of a second three-dimensional model in which one or more second features are located in the outside scene; determining differences data representative of feature differences between at least one first feature and at least one second feature; and applying the differences data to one or more pixel data sets, where such modification may be based upon a comparison between one or more first features and one or more correlating second features.

  • Patent number: 9501938
Abstract: A present novel and non-trivial system, device, and method for generating surface information presentable on a display unit is disclosed, where the surface information may be presented to draw a viewer's attention to the presence of threatening object(s). An image generator (“IG”) may be configured to receive navigation data; retrieve object data representative of vertical measurements of objects; and generate an image data set representative of an image comprised of object highlighting band(s) capable of highlighting object(s) which meet object highlighting band criteria, where such criteria could include an object reference. In one embodiment, the object highlighting band could be horizontally-disposed, where the object reference may be a horizontal measurement referenced to aircraft position to which the retrieval of the object data may be limited.

  • Patent number: 9489575
Abstract: A system and method for providing sensor-based navigation correction of a GPS-sensed position of an aircraft includes a synthetic vision system. The synthetic vision system captures a visual image of the surrounding area via image sensors and generates a location model based on the image. A georeference engine compares the location model to static high-resolution terrain and obstacle databases to determine a corrected position of the aircraft. The georeference engine then updates the GPS-sensed position with the corrected position, transmitting the corrected position to the combiner. The combiner generates for display an enhanced image based on the visual image and the corrected position of the aircraft.
