  • Publication number: 20240061964
Abstract: A secure control module for BMC platform offloading to a remote application includes a processor, a network interface, and a connector with data connections. The connector is configured to connect to one or more data connections of a motherboard of a host. The secure control module includes non-transitory computer readable storage media storing code executable by the processor to perform operations that include receiving management signals from the connector. The management signals include input related to controlling the host. The operations include transmitting the management signals over the network interface to a management application running on a remote server, and receiving, over the network interface, management information from the management application. At least a portion of the management information is in response to the management signals. The operations include transmitting the management information over the connector to the host on at least one of the one or more data connections.

  • Patent number: 11494280
Abstract: Examples described herein relate to consumption monitoring device and method for changing a client for its use of a networked resource. The consumption monitoring device may receive information regarding an out-of-band (OOB) performance parameter from a manageability controller corresponding to a networked resource subscribed by the client. The consumption monitoring device may determine a resource consumption metric corresponding to the networked resource for the client based at least on the information regarding the OOB performance parameter received from the manageability controller. The client may be charged based on the resource consumption metric.

  • Patent number: 11366673
Abstract: Example implementations relate to system and method of managing transitioning of a computing system to a power-on state from a standby-power state. The computing system includes a manageability controller, an initialization controller, an auxiliary device, and a processor. In such examples, the manageability controller may first determine an initialization status of the auxiliary device from a data corresponding to the auxiliary device, when the computing system is transitioning from the standby-power state to the power-on state. In one or more examples, the initialization status may include the auxiliary device in an initialized stage or a non-initialized stage. Later, the manageability controller may direct the initialization controller to delay the transitioning of the computing system from the standby-power state to the power-on state, in response to determining that the initialization status of the auxiliary device is in the non-initialized stage.

  • Patent number: 10877548
Abstract: In example implementations, an apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a context switch block, a processor performance state block, and a task execution block. The context switch block is to perform a context switch. The processor performance state block is to load a processor with a processor performance state stored in a context information associated with a task. The task execution block is to execute the task with the processor operating at the processor performance state loaded from the context information.

  • Publication number: 20060129852
Abstract: The present disclosure describes exemplary embodiments of BIOS-based systems and methods of processor power management. Such systems include a computer system, comprising: a processor operable at a plurality of power levels (the processor comprises a register capable of storing a processor load value); a memory coupled to the processor; and BIOS software stored in the memory that executes on the processor, (the BIOS software comprises a power management module). The power management module sets the processor to a new power level of the plurality of power levels if a function of the load value indicates the new power level.
