  • Patent number: 11792694
Abstract: When initiating a Voice-over-IP (VoIP) communication session between an originating device (MO) and a terminating device (MT) on a packet-switched network, network components associated with the MO may encounter a failure when preparing resources for the session, such as a failure to establish a dedicated bearer with the MO. This might typically cause the system to abort the session. Instead, the network components are configured to detect the failure and to initiate a handover to a circuit-switched communication network so that the session may be conducted through the circuit-switched communication network. The failure may be detected by a component of a Long-Term Evolution (LTE) Radio Access Network (RAN) of the network, by a Mobility Management Entity (MME) of the network, or by some other network component. Single Radio Voice Call Continuity (SRVCC) procedures may be used to implement the handover.

  • Publication number: 20230319658
Abstract: System and methods for smart cell selection and reselection are described. A mobile device may attempt to camp on a cell in a tracking area that has advertised a particular frequency band. If the mobile device is unable to recognize an information element identifying a different subset of the advertised frequency band than that supported by the mobile device, the mobile device will store a record of the tracking area and the advertised frequency band and compare future cell information broadcasts to the entry, avoiding attempts to operate within cells in the same tracking area advertising the same frequency. In this way the mobile device conserves resources by avoiding actions in incompatible cells and avoids storing information about many cells by only storing the tracking area information.

  • Patent number: 11723699
Abstract: Systems and methods for fixing bone using an intramedullary nail locked to an encircling anchor including a bushing and a locking member. An exemplary system may include any combination of the nail, one or more bushings, one or more locking members, an instrument to guide installation of the bushing, at least one drill, and a driver that attaches to the bushing. The instrument may define a guide axis and be configured to be coupled to a bone such that the guide axis extends across the bone. The instrument may be used to guide a drill, the bushing, and/or the locking member along the guide axis into the bone. The nail may be configured to be placed along the medullary canal of the bone such that the nail extends through the bushing, and the locking member may be configured to lock the nail to the bushing.

  • Patent number: 11729798
Abstract: Determining when to display a Fifth Generation (5G) service indicator is described herein. In an example, a network can compare capabilities supported by a user equipment (UE) with capabilities available to the UE (e.g., in a geographic area of the UE) to determine whether the UE can display the 5G service indicator. In some examples, such capabilities can be determined based at least in part on E-UTRAN New Radio-Dual Connectivity (EN-DC) combinations of frequency bands.

  • Patent number: 11722850
Abstract: Systems and methods for registering a location tracking device affixed to an item or other merchandise with a cellular or mobile network provider associated with the purchaser are described herein. In some cases, user equipment in physical proximity to the location tracking device may establish a connection with the location tracking device to facilitate the registration process between the network provider and the location tracking device. Once the registration is complete, the location tracking device may establish a direct connection with the cellular or mobile network of the network provider such that the network provider is able to monitor the location of the location tracking device.

  • Publication number: 20230213361
Abstract: Examples are disclosed that relate to sensing a position of a surface proximate to a resonant LC sensor. One example provides a method on a sensing device comprising one or more resonant LC sensors each configured to output a signal responsive to a position of a surface proximate to the resonant LC sensor. The method comprises, for each LC sensor, generating an oscillating signal on an antenna of the resonant LC sensor and detecting a near-field response of the resonant LC sensor at a selected frequency.

  • Publication number: 20230180048
Abstract: A slice manager associated with a network access point of a telecommunication network can manage combinations of network slices and bandwidth parts for user equipment (UE). The bandwidth parts can have independently set numerologies, such as subcarrier spacing values. The UE can be configured to use one or more active bandwidth parts at a time, such that the slice manager can instruct the UE to use multiple active bandwidth parts simultaneously with respect to the same network slice or multiple network slices.

  • Publication number: 20230104370
Abstract: A base station can select orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) numerologies that define subcarrier spacing values based on attributes associated with one or more services that a user equipment (UE) is using. The base station can use the selected OFDM numerologies for transmission associated with the services. When the UE is using multiple services simultaneously, the base station can select the same or different OFDM numerologies for the multiple services.

  • Publication number: 20230089734
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for tracking a passive controller system using an active sensor system within a mixed-reality environment. The passive controller system includes a body configured to be held in a hand of a user, as well as a plurality of retroreflectors that collectively provides at least 180 degrees of reflecting surface for reflecting a radar signal in at least 180 degrees of spherical range when the passive controller system is positioned within a predetermined distance from a source of the radar signal and with an orientation that is within the at least 180 degrees of spherical range relative to the source of the radar signal. Signals transmitted to the passive controller and reflected back from the passive controller are used to calculate the position and orientation of the passive controller system relative to the active sensor system.
