Abstract: Systems and methods for updating a Domain Name System (DNS) registry are disclosed. Embodiments perform operations including maintaining a domain name record of a DNS registrant recorded in a database of the DNS registry by a primary DNS interface. The operations also include receiving a request to update the domain name record of the DNS registrant via a secondary DNS interface. The operations further include modifying the domain name record of the DNS registrant in the DNS database in accordance with the request.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to systems, devices, and computer-implemented methods for providing secure access to a shared registration system of a domain name registry by generating authorization information associated with a domain name, storing the authorization information in an archive, receiving, from a non-registrar service provider, a request for access to functionality of a shared registration system of the domain name registry, where the request is associated with the domain name and includes authorization information, determining whether the received authorization information is valid using the archived authorization information, and allowing the non-registrar service provider access to the functionality of the SRS based on a determination that the second authorization information is valid.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for quickly providing Whois services to a new top level domain after it is provisioned in a registry. In one embodiment, domain data is received at a first system regarding a top level domain (TLD). The domain data is assigned an authoritative port of a Whois server and is provisioned in a registry database. In certain embodiments, the Whois server provides information relating to domain name registrations of the TLD in the database, according to the authoritative port. The Whois server determines that a Whois query is received at the authoritative port for the queried TLD and responds with the queried information. To the requester, the responses appear as if they are sent from a unique Whois server for each TLD, but the Whois server is actually shared among the TLDs.

Abstract: A system and method for establishing a chain of trust from a registrant to a registry. A registrant request to a registrar to change a domain name record includes at least one registrant factor, such as a one time password. The registrar can formulate an extended EPP command that includes the factor to effectuate the change and send it to a registry. The registry can verify the at least one factor using at least one validation server. If the factor is successfully verified, the EPP can be processed by the registry. If the factor is not verified, the EPP command may not be processed and an error message may be generated and sent to the registrar.

A registry receives a request for performing a domain name registration operation from a registrar. The registry performs an authentication of the registrar that sent the request. If the registrar is determined to be authenticated, the registry then determines whether the registrar is authorized to perform an action necessitated by the operation. Subsequently, the registry executes the operation based on a determination that the registrar is authorized and stores changes necessitated by the operation in a database. A response indicating success or failure of the operation is sent to the registrar.
