Publication number: 20070016090Abstract: Implantable medical devices and associated methods are disclosed. In one implementation, the implantable medical device comprises a conductive housing and a remote electrode that is mechanically coupled to the conductive housing by a lead body. An amplifier is electrically connected to the remote electrode and the conductive housing for providing a signal representative of a voltage difference between the remote electrode and the conductive housing. In some methods in accordance with the present invention, the implantable medical device is implanted in an implant site overlaying one half of a rib cage of a human body. The implantable medical device produces a signal representative of the voltage difference between the remote electrode and the conductive housing and the signal is transmitted to a receiver located outside the human body.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 25, 2006Publication date: January 18, 2007Applicant: Transoma Medical, Inc.Inventors: Brian Brockway, Perry Mills, Arthur Foster, Scott Lambert, Kathy Sherwood

Publication number: 20060058900Abstract: A user interface for designing a control system displays features of the control system to be configured. Options for a feature are determined and displayed when a feature is selected to be configured. A selection of an available option may be made and one or more corresponding control system components are identified and displayed. After the selection of an available option, the available options for the other features may be altered based upon the available option selected. A plurality of options for the other features also may be automatically identified taking into account the available option selected.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 4, 2005Publication date: March 16, 2006Inventors: Thomas Johanson, Joseph Whitehead, James Kruk, Scott Lambert, Brian Gillespie

Patent number: 6537228Abstract: A method and apparatus in an apnea detector monitor impedance pneumographic respiratory signals and heart rate of a patient. Magnitudes of excursions of the respiratory signals are monitored to resolve respiratory events, i.e. breaths, inhalations and exhalations. A counter will reach a threshold count and trigger an alarm if a selected interval lapses without a respiratory event being detected. If a respiratory event is detected, as by detecting successive peaks, a peak or a valley of the respiratory signal, the timer is reset. The method and apparatus reject artifact that would otherwise appear as breathing cycles in order to prevent false negative indications of apnea. Cyclically occurring peaks are rejected as being indicative of a breath if they are in a selected magnitude range compared to that of a normal breath and they approximate the patient's heart rate.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 2001Date of Patent: March 25, 2003Assignee: Cas Medical Systems, Inc.Inventor: Scott Lambert
