  • Patent number: 10542372
Abstract: A method and system are described for determining a location of a consumer within a retail establishment, or other geographical proximity. The method and system use a portable computing device (“PCD”) such as, but not limited to, a mobile phone. The system and method may leverage existing infrastructure, such as wireless routers, to assist the PCD and a remote server in communication with the PCD to determine a location of a consumer in possession of the PCD within a retail location. The system may comprise a PCD running a geo-network discovery (“GND”) module, a server running a service set identifier (“SSID”) verification and rules (“V/R”) module, a telecommunications network, and a wireless router configured to broadcast a unique SSID.

  • Patent number: 8616439
Abstract: A system and method includes displaying a prompt on a display device of a first computing device to input information for an e-commerce session. Next, a selection for completing the e-commerce session by an information transfer is received. A machine-readable code that captures data corresponding to the e-commerce session, such as a web session identifier, is generated by the first computing device. The machine-readable code is made available for scanning by the first computing device. A message derived from the machine-readable and produced by a second computing device that scans the machine-readable code is received over a computer network. In response to receiving the message derived from the machine-readable code, information is transferred from a secure server to the e-commerce session. Before any information is transferred from the secure server to the e-commerce session, a prompt may be displayed on the second computing device requesting authorization for the transfer.

  • Publication number: 20130159178
Abstract: A method and system include receiving a payment account number from a token, such as a traditional credit card. Either the payment account number or a token is communicated over a communications network to a mobile wallet system and/or a vault. A first authorization code may be generated in response to receiving the payment account number or token. Next, the first authorization code is then transmitted over the communications network for relaying the first authorization code to a portable computing device, such as a mobile phone. The portable computing device receives the authorization code and re-transmits the code (as a second authorization code) over the communications network. Subsequently, the first and second code from the portable computing device are compared to determine if a match exists. If a match exists, then the payment account number is loaded into the mobile wallet system for use as a virtual token.

  • Publication number: 20120296725
Abstract: A method and system include verifying credentials for gaining access to a central mobile payment controller using the portable computing device (“PCD”). The central mobile payment controller may receive a merchant identifier corresponding to a merchant and then it may compare the merchant identifier against loyalty account data stored in a database. The central controller may also receive product scan data and compare the product scan data against one of offer data and coupon data in a database. After these comparisons, any matches of product scan data to offer data or coupon data may be sent to the PCD and an electronic cash register (“ECR”). Similarly, any matches of the merchant identifier to loyalty account data may be transmitted to the PCD and ECR. During or after the purchase transaction, a message may be generated by the central mobile payment controller which lists one or more preferred payment options.
