  • Patent number: 11709179
Abstract: An accelerometer arrangement and method are described for determining accelerations of an inground tool. First and second triaxial accelerometers are supported such that a normal sensing axis of the first triaxial accelerometer is at least generally orthogonal to the normal sensing axis of the second triaxial accelerometer for determining the accelerations along the three orthogonal axes based on a combination of sensing axis outputs from one or both of the triaxial accelerometers. A weaker sensing axis of one triaxial accelerometer can be supported at least approximately normal to a weaker sensing axis of another triaxial accelerometer such that the weaker axes are not used. The triaxial accelerometers can be supported such that one axis of one accelerometer can be redundant with respect to another axis of another accelerometer. One triaxial accelerometer can be mounted on a tilted plane with respect to another triaxial accelerometer.

  • Patent number: 11700402
Abstract: A performance metrics of a receiver is obtained using frames of an application hosted by a server that are received via a network. The one or more performance metrics include information indicative of a current occupancy of a frame buffer corresponding to the receiver and information indicative of a target occupancy of the frame buffer corresponding to the receiver. The frame buffer of the receiver is used to queue frames of the application for display. A frame rate associated with rendering at least one next frame of the application is adjusted using the one or more performance metrics of the receiver to control population of the frame buffer. Subsequent frames of the application hosted by the server are rendered using the adjusted frame rate. Upon rendering the subsequent frames, the server sends the subsequent frames to the receiver for display.

  • Publication number: 20230217201
Abstract: An audio system of a client device applies transformations to audio received over a computer network. The transformations (e.g., HRTFs) effect changes in apparent source positions of the received audio, or of segments thereof. Such transformations may be used to achieve “animation” of audio, in which the source positions of the audio or audio segments appear to change over time (e.g., circling around the listener). Additionally, segmentation of audio into distinct semantic audio segments, and application of separate transformations for each audio segment, can be used to intuitively differentiate the different audio segments by causing them to sound as if they emanated from different positions around the listener.

  • Publication number: 20230176749
Abstract: Address range memory mirroring in a computer system, and related methods and computer-readable media. The computer system includes one or more memory mirror agents that are each configured to be programmed to mirror write data of a write request to a memory address mapped to the memory mirror agent. The memory mirror agent is configured to mirror write data to a redundant memory space in memory if the write memory address is within a programmed memory space to be mirrored by the memory mirror agent. The memory mirror agent can be programmed to perform memory mirroring based on specific address ranges to provide flexibility in controlling and changing the exact memory space of the memory system to be mirrored. If an error is detected in read data in response to a memory read request, the memory mirror agent can retrieve the stored redundant data to maintain data integrity.

  • Patent number: 11616580
Abstract: A system receives audio data in a frequency range of 20 Hz-20 kHz. The received audio data is encoded by the system into ultrasonic data in frequencies that are greater than 20 kHz, and transmitted into a local area that is proximal to the transmitting device, i.e., within the transmission range of the transmitting device. An ultrasonic communication device that is located in the transmission range of the transmitting device may receive the ultrasonic data. The received ultrasonic data is decoded by the ultrasonic communication system in the receiving device into audio data in a frequency range of 20 Hz-20 kHz, and subsequently presented to a user of the receiving ultrasonic communication device.

  • Patent number: 11613990
Abstract: A transmitter for inground use controls a depth signal transmit power in relation to a data signal transmit power such that one reception range of the depth signal at least approximately matches another, different reception range of the data signal. A portable device can form a system with the transmitter in which the portable device scans a plurality of frequencies within at least one low frequency depth signal range to measure the electromagnetic noise at each one of the plurality of frequencies and identify at least one of the frequencies as a potential depth frequency for the transmitter. The portable device can include a dual mode filter having a rebar mode and a normal mode filter. The depth signal frequency is dynamically positionable in relation to low frequency noise.

  • Patent number: 11594163
Abstract: Systems and methods of use are presented that resize a displayed program presentation based on a requested television size, which allows a single large display monitor (television) to act as a proxy of all the smaller television sizes available in a given model line of televisions. The resized program is presented on the display monitor with a physical size larger than the requested size. Pricing information for the requested television size is superimposed on the presented resized program. Outlines for intermediate sizes of televisions of the same make and model to that of the display monitor are also presented in the presented program, including size and price indicators for the intermediate sizes. Multiple display monitors, each having a separate media player, can be implemented in a retail environment so as to allow several makes and models to be compared. Sync signals keep video transmitted by the media players synchronized.

  • Publication number: 20220311284
Abstract: A transmitter is powered by a regulated battery voltage and is installable in one of a plurality of different housings, each housing is characterized by a different design and each can form part of an inground tool for performing an inground operation in which a drill string extends from a drill rig to the inground tool. An antenna driver drives an antenna based on the regulated voltage to emanate an electromagnetic signal for remote reception. A controller limits power consumption from the regulated voltage so as not to exceed a power consumption threshold, irrespective of installation of the transmitter in any one of the housings when the transmitter would otherwise exhibit a different power consumption for each housing design. A corresponding method is described. Features relating to power consumption threshold modification based on temperature as well as mechanical shock and vibration are described.
