Patent number: 11860034Abstract: A technology is described for hyperspectral imaging. An example of the technology can include receiving an event stream of events from an event camera coupled to an interferometer. The event camera can receive light output from the interferometer and generate the event stream, comprising event data that corresponds to the light output. The events in the event stream can indicate a pixel that detected an event, a time of the event, and a polarity of change in brightness detected by the pixel. Spectral data can be generated for the events in the event stream using a demodulation and frequency transform to convert temporospatial aggregates of events in the event stream to frequency domain data that corresponds to an optical spectrum. A hyperspectral image of an input scene in a spectral range can be generated using the spectral data.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 2021Date of Patent: January 2, 2024Assignee: Raytheon BBN Technologies, Corp.Inventor: Scott Ritter

Patent number: 11843879Abstract: A technology is described for pixel frequency filtering for event cameras. An example of the technology can include receiving events representative of changes in brightness detected by a pixel in a pixel array included in the event camera, tracking a number of event sign transitions that occur within a defined time window, determining that the number of event transitions corresponds to an event transition frequency, and allowing the events generated by the pixel to be output from the event camera.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 2021Date of Patent: December 12, 2023Assignee: Raytheon BBN Technologies, Corp.Inventor: Scott Ritter

Publication number: 20230072801Abstract: A technology is described for optical communication. An example of the technology can include receiving an event stream containing indications of independent events detected by pixels in an event camera. An event may be a change in brightness detected by a pixel in the pixel array, and the pixel independently generates an indication of the event in response to detecting the event. The event stream can be demultiplexed into a plurality of communication streams containing related events associated with a plurality of communication sources. The events contained in a communication stream can be aggregated based in part on an event proximity and an event time that associates an event with other events contained in the event stream. The plurality of communication streams can be demodulated to extract optically transmitted information from the plurality of communication streams, which can be sent to a data consumer.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 11, 2022Publication date: March 9, 2023Inventor: Scott Ritter
