Patent number: 7883070Abstract: A device installed at the base of a vertical post used to stabilize the post in an upright vertical plumb condition and prevent the post from leaning. The device is comprised of a flat base (1) manufactured in two halves so that when placed together has a geometric shape opening (3) of the same size of the post the device is to be installed around. The device base contains multiple secondary penetrations (2) of the cross-sectional shape of the anchoring stakes (9) to be used. The device is installed at the post base (8) by placing the two halves around the post and joining together at along a common line (5). The two halves are affixed together using a mending plate (7) and screws (6) or other type methods not shown. The anchoring stakes (9) are then inserted through the secondary penetrations (2) to affix the device to the ground.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 2007Date of Patent: February 8, 2011Inventors: Jeffrey Scott Schroeder, David Arthur Heyden

Publication number: 20080230674Abstract: A device that is installed at the base of a sign post used to hold an existing sign post in an upright, vertical and plumb condition after being returned to this position from a leaning or slanting position. The said device is comprised of a flat molded base made of plastic or metal and is typically round or square in shape (1). The said device is generally manufactured in two halves that when placed together have an opening that is of the same shape of the sign post (3). The said device has four or more penetrations (2), depending on the size and shape of said device used. Each penetration (2) are in the shape and size of the desired anchoring stake (9) to be used. The said device can be mounted at or below grade. After restoring the sign to its vertical position and preparing the surrounding soil, the two halves of device are placed around the base of the sign (8) and joined together at a common line (5).Type: ApplicationFiled: March 19, 2007Publication date: September 25, 2008Inventors: Jeffrey Scott Schroeder, David Arthur Heyden
