Patent number: 11976444Abstract: A work machine is provided with grade control capability using an imaging system, e.g., rather than GPS. The work machine includes at least one work implement for working at least part of a terrain, and first sensors (e.g., cylinder sensors) generate signals corresponding to positions of the work implement. Second sensors (e.g., stereo cameras) generate signals corresponding to positions of representative features of the terrain (e.g., curbs) in a field of view. A controller receives the signals and determines in a local reference system independent of a global reference system: first position information corresponding to the work implement; and second position information corresponding to the representative features.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2021Date of Patent: May 7, 2024Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Luke J. Kurth, Sean A. Mairet, Billy J. Naderman

Publication number: 20220364335Abstract: A system and method are provided for assisted positioning of a loading container of a transport vehicle with respect to a work machine during material loading operations. A target loading position is determined for at least the loading container relative to at least an undercarriage of the work machine. The target loading position may be based on user input, and/or automatically determined based on a selected swing angle or range for an implement (e.g., boom assembly), a distance from the work machine, etc. Output signals are generated corresponding to the target loading position, and optionally to a determined route of travel corresponding to a current position of the transport vehicle and the target loading position for at least the loading container.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 1, 2021Publication date: November 17, 2022Inventors: Jonathan Spendlove, Alex J. Anhalt, Giovanni A. Wuisan, Zimin W. Vilar, Sean A. Mairet, Andrew W. Kahler

Patent number: 11222202Abstract: Systems and methods are described for identifying a behavior of a machine. A computer system receives a signal indicative of operation of a field machine and applies a deep learning algorithm to identify a pattern in a collection of signals stored on a computer-readable memory. The collection of signals includes the received signal indicative of operation of the field machine and other signals. A series of targeted tests are performed using a test machine while monitoring a signal indicative of operation of the test machine. A behavior is identified during the series of targeted tests that produces a signal that matches the pattern identified by the deep learning algorithm. An occurrence of the behavior is then automatically identified in the field machine in response to detecting the pattern in the received signal indicative of operation of the field machine.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 2019Date of Patent: January 11, 2022Assignee: DEERE & COMPANYInventors: Michael G. Kean, Robert A. Hamilton, Keith N. Chaston, Sean Mairet, Francois Stander

Patent number: 11047111Abstract: A work vehicle includes a frame; an implement; a linkage assembly mounting the implement to the frame; a linkage actuator coupled to the linkage assembly and the frame and configured to reposition the linkage assembly relative to the frame; a sensor configured to generate sensor position data associated with at least one of the linkage assembly and the linkage actuator representing a linkage position; an operator interface configured to receive operator input from an operator associated with the linkage actuator representing a velocity request; and an electronic control system having processing and memory architecture operatively coupled to the sensor, operator interface, and linkage actuator. The electronic control system is configured to generate an actuator command for the linkage actuator based on the velocity request and the linkage position that, upon execution, results in a constant velocity of the implement for the operator input regardless of the linkage position.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 2018Date of Patent: June 29, 2021Assignee: DEERE & COMPANYInventors: Sean A. Mairet, Bryan Rausch

Patent number: 10738439Abstract: An open loop electrohydraulic bucket position control system for a work vehicle having a positionable bucket coupled to a movable boom. The bucket control system maintains a position of the bucket with respect to a frame of the vehicle as the movable boom is raised or lowered. A bucket command, determined by an operator of the vehicle, is modified based on a pre-determined relationship of the work vehicle's hardware and known and constant properties of a linkage design of the work machine. The control system includes a processor and one or more look-up tables that include data identifying implement velocities with respect to boom commands and implement velocities with respect to bucket commands. Bucket commands are modified based on a relationship between the commanded velocity of the boom and a level orientation of the bucket during the commanded heights of the boom. Modified bucket commands and boom commands adjust the position of a bucket hydraulic cylinder and a boom hydraulic cylinder.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 2018Date of Patent: August 11, 2020Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Sean A. Patent number: 10465361Abstract: An auxiliary flow adjustment system and method are disclosed for controlling an auxiliary hydraulic function on a machine in accordance with commands from an operator. The auxiliary flow adjustment system includes operator controls that control a hydraulic control valve. The control valve controls flow rate and flow direction to the auxiliary hydraulic function. When the auxiliary flow adjustment system is activated, the operator can use the operator controls to select a desired flow rate and flow direction for the auxiliary function and maintain the desired flow rate and direction without further use of the operator controls. When the flow adjustment system is activated while a non-zero flow rate is selected, the desired flow rate and direction can be set to the current settings. A resume control can retrieve and command the previously stored desired flow rate and direction. Controls can be used to increase and decrease the set flow rate.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 2016Date of Patent: November 5, 2019Assignee: DEERE & COMPANYInventors: Sean A. Mairet, Thomas J.
