Publication number: 20110180496Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for retaining a carton containing a dispensable rolled material. In one embodiment, the carton includes a film cutter and the rolled material is a plastic film. The device is formed of a frame including a bottom support member, side retaining member, front retaining member and rear retaining member for securely holding the front, rear, bottom and side of the carton for continuous dispensing of the rolled material until the roll of material ends. A lid lock can be coupled to the frame for holding down a lid of the carton for expeditious pulling and dispensing of the rolled material from the carton. A rotatable locking member can be rotated between an open position for receiving the carton and a closed position for retaining the carton within the frame.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 25, 2010Publication date: July 28, 2011Inventors: Philip A. HERNBERG, Ian Kaiser, Sean Neiberger

Patent number: 7921756Abstract: The present invention relates to a film cutter assembly in which a blade housing slides along a pair of rails. The blade housing is formed of an upper portion for housing the blade. Either end of the upper portion has a rounded inclined shape from a bottom edge to form a sled shaped runner. The sled shaped runner extends beyond the blade such that the user is prevented from touching the blade. A lower portion of the blade housing slidables bilaterally in a cavity formed below the rails. A clearance is formed between the blade and the rails to allow the blade housing to easily slide over a film to be cut even if the film bunched or doubled over. The upper portion of the blade housing has a concave shape for allowing a user's fingers to easily grip the blade housing. Preferably, the rails are formed of a material which provides an attractive charge to attract the film to the rail and help hold the film flat before and after cutting. For example, the rails can be formed of flexible vinyl or acetal.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2000Date of Patent: April 12, 2011Assignee: AEP Industries, Inc.Inventors: Paul Vegliante, Sean Neiberger, Rudolf Pavlik, Ian Kaiser

Patent number: 7918151Abstract: The present invention relates to a film cutter assembly in which a blade housing slides bilaterally along a pair of rails. The blade housing houses a blade. An elongated rail base is coupled or integral with a pair of rails. The rails are formed of a material which provides a cling property to hold the film to the rail and maintain the film in flat position before, during and after cutting. A double-side adhesive tape can be applied to a surface of the elongated rail base which is adapted for attaching the elongated rail base to a carton of film.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 2001Date of Patent: April 5, 2011Assignee: AEP Industries, Inc.Inventors: Paul Vegliante, Sean Neiberger, Rudolf Pavlik, Ian Kaiser

Publication number: 20080073371Abstract: A dispenser for a material on a roll, the dispenser having a front section connected to a back section. The front section includes a top wall and a front wall, with the top wall having a cutter such as a slide cutter or a blade, for cutting the material, and a dispenser slot for dispensing the material. The back section includes a bottom wall and a rear wall. The front and back sections are connected where the bottom wall meet the front wall such that the front and back sections can be in an open position or a closed position. A roll is place in the dispenser, in some versions on roll containment mounts.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 30, 2007Publication date: March 27, 2008Inventors: Sean Neiberger, Ian Kaiser, Raymond Smith

Patent number: 5772094Abstract: A cutting blade is formed from a rectangular sheet of a rigid material such as metal or plastic. One side of the sheet is formed into a roll or tube giving structural rigidity to the entire cutting blade. The remainder of the sheet extends flat and tangentially from the tube. In cross section, the cutting blade looks generally like the arabic numeral "9". At the top ("rounded head portion") of the "9", a series of holes in one or more rows are punched through the cutting blade so that petals of metal project up and out of the "9" shape at its top. Preferably, for each hole, associated petals are pointed in different directions to provide both a cutting edge and a holding edge for film cut with the blade. The cutting blade may include a series of tangs pointing up (toward the top of the "9") which allow the blade to be easily placed over an edge of the dispenser, but not easily removed therefrom.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 1995Date of Patent: June 30, 1998Assignee: Allen-Reed Company, Inc.Inventors: Ian R. Kaiser, Michael C. Kaiser, Sean A. Neiberger

Patent number: 5292046Abstract: A roll film dispenser is disclosed which utilizes a switch-retractable serrated blade to cut film being dispensed. In one embodiment of the invention, the roll film dispenser contains a roll of film which is arranged so that the end of the roll exits the dispenser through a slot at the top. Severance of the film is accomplished by tearing the sheet over the serrated blade. When not in use, the serrated blade may be manually retracted. Optionally, an acrylic sheet may be interposed between the slot and the blade to aid in stabilizing PVC-type films prior to cutting. A conforming weight is provided at the lower rear of the dispenser to resist rollover.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 1992Date of Patent: March 8, 1994Assignee: Allen Reed Company, IncorporatedInventors: Ian R. Kaiser, Michael C. Kaiser, Sean A. Neiberger
