  • Patent number: 4533751
Abstract: There is provided a process for the addition of a secondary aliphatic amine to myrcene or an 8-substituted myrcene and isomerization to a dialkyl 1,3-dienamine. The process is liquid phase and employs an excess of the amine relative to myrcene or substituted myrcene. The catalyst is an alkali metal amide anion formed from the amine.

Date of Patent: August 6, 1985
    Assignee: SCM Corporation
Inventors: Leon Cherney, Charles R. Gorman, Sean G. Traynor, Carlos G. Cardenas
  • Patent number: 4289809
Abstract: Polydentate phosphonium salts, prepared by reacting a polydentate phosphine containing two or more trivalent phosphorous atoms with various mono or difunctional organic halides, are effective agents for treating glass and specifically glass capillary chromatographic columns.

  • Patent number: 4289917
Abstract: Alkali metal oxides of cis- and trans-2,6,6-trimethylbicyclo(3.1.1)-heptan-2-ol are surprisingly effective bases in organic reactions calling for the use of a strong base, especially those reactions wherein abstraction of a proton from attachment to a carbon atom is postulated to occur in the mechanism.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 17, 1979
Date of Patent: September 15, 1981
    Assignee: SCM Corporation
Inventors: Bernard J. Kane, Sean G. Traynor
  • Patent number: 4283347
Abstract: Para-menth-1-ene-7-sulfonate salts are made by reacting .beta.-pinene with a bisulfite salt under free radical conditions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 27, 1980

  • Patent number: 4240969
Abstract: A new process for synthesizing menthofuran is disclosed. Said process comprises epoxidizing isopulegol to form the new compound isopulegol epoxide. The epoxide is then oxidized to form isopulegone epoxide which can be cyclodehydrated to form menthofuran.

  • Patent number: 4209554
Abstract: Phosphonium salts are prepared by reacting polydentate phosphines containing two or more trivalent phosphorus atoms with alkyl or aralkyl halides. Treatment of glass surfaces and glass capillary columns with these salts substantially eliminates tailing of peaks and allow the high temperature separation and characterization of polar compounds by gas chromatography at temperatures of 300.degree.
