Patent number: 8156868Abstract: A projectile for use in a barrel with stacked projectiles, particularly for a weapon which can be reloaded by a user in the field. The projectile includes a chamber containing a propellant charge, with an exit from the chamber for release of propulsion gases into the barrel. A seal blocks the exit and is opened by ignition of the propellant within the chamber but is resistant to gases produced by ignition of propellant in other projectiles in the barrel. The exit and seal are provided in a range of different forms. The exit may be an aperture in a wall of the chamber with the seal as a moveable barrier, such as a valve-like structure, for example. The seal may also include a rupturable or deformable barrier across the aperture. Alternatively the seal is a thin barrier around the charge such as a wax coating and the exit involves a disintegrable character of the barrier. The seal may also be an inherent property of the geometry of the chamber.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 2011Date of Patent: April 17, 2012Assignee: Metal Storm LimitedInventor: Sean Patrick O'Dwyer

Patent number: 8127685Abstract: An existing projectile (21) is modified by adding a tail piece (22) to enable axial stacking of multiple projectiles (20) in a common barrel. Propellant for each modified projectile (20) is contained in respective chambers located external to the barrel and connected to the bore of the barrel through associated ports. Tail piece (22) aligns with a respective port and provides a space between consecutive projectiles (20) into which the propellant gas expands after ignition. Separate claims are directed to tail assembly (22), modified projectile (20), the barrel assembly having a plurality of projectiles (20) stacked in end-to-end relation, and to an external initiation system for the barrel assembly (see FIGS. 4, 7).Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2004Date of Patent: March 6, 2012Assignee: Metal Storm LimitedInventors: James Michael O'Dwyer, Sean Patrick O'Dwyer

Publication number: 20100132536Abstract: A file creation process, file format and playback device are provided that enables an interactive and if desired collaborative music playback experience for the user(s) by combining or retro-fitting an ‘original song’ with a MIDI time grid, the MIDI score of the song and other data in a synchronized fashion. The invention enables a music interaction platform that requires a small amount of time to learn and very little skill, knowledge or talent to use and is designed to bring ‘mixing music’ to the average person. The premiere capability that the file format provides, is the capability for any two bars, multiples of bars or pre-designated ‘parts’ from any two songs to be mixed in both tempo and bar by bar synchronization in a non-linear drag and drop fashion (and therefore almost instantaneously). The file format provides many further interaction capabilities however such a remixing MIDI tracks from the original song back in with the song.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 18, 2008Publication date: June 3, 2010Applicant: iGruuv Pty LtdInventor: Sean Patrick O'Dwyer

Ignition gas exit ports (17) are located in nose portion (11) for propulsion of a leading projectile from the weapon. Alternative, the ports may be located in tail portion (12) for propulsion of each respective projectile. Charges (14) may be distributed around the longitudinal axis of body (10) of the projectile.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 2004Date of Patent: January 13, 2009Assignee: Metal Storm LimitedInventors: James Michael O'Dwyer, Sean Patrick O'Dwyer
