Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for aggregating news and social content with map presentations. A method includes receiving map coordinates coinciding with a user viewport defining a region of map data. Map data corresponding to the region defined by the user viewport is obtained. A location corresponding to the region defined by the user viewport is identified, and a query corresponding to the identified location is generated. One or more collections of dated resources are searched using the generated query to obtain one or more resources that refer to the identified location, wherein the dated resources are news resources or social content resources. The dated resources are ranked based at least on the date of each resource. The map data is presented with one or more of the obtained dated resources according to the rank for each resource.
