  • Publication number: 20060164771
Abstract: A device for transmitting, exchanging and/or routing data and/or information, in the context of industrial process and/or automation technology, between a first unit and at least a second unit. One of those units is a transmitter or sensor supplying a measurement value for determining a physical or chemical quantity. Said units form part of a combined assembly or network of several units which communicate with one another directly or indirectly by means of at least one intermediate unit, each of the units comprising at least two physical communication interfaces and at least one microprocessor.

  • Patent number: 7076310
Abstract: An electronic apparatus forming a sensor, an actuator or a control is described comprising a control engine and an integrated bus interface via which the apparatus can be connected to a data bus for the communication of the apparatus with at least one further apparatus connected to the data bus and forming a sensor, an actuator or a control. The communication, i.e. the transmission and/or the reception of data via the data bus, takes place via any desired predetermined communication protocol. The control engine includes an application-specific engine and a bus protocol-specific engine which are decoupled from one another and exchange application-specific data via a pre-determined, standardized interface. The bus protocol-specific engine is made for the transmission and/or the reception of data via the bus interface. The application-specific section is made for the control of the apparatus independently of the bus protocol used.

  • Patent number: 6963781
Abstract: An electronic apparatus forming a sensor, an actuator or a control is described comprising a control engine and an integrated bus interface. The apparatus can be connected via the bus interface to a data bus for the communication of the apparatus with at least one further apparatus forming a sensor, an actuator or a control and connected to the data bus. Furthermore, the apparatus includes a device-specific definition engine in which parameters required for the communication, function and/or configuration of the electronic apparatus are stored, with the device-specific definition engine being present in a device-specific format and the parameters being able to be accessed via the control engine.

  • Patent number: 6928866
Abstract: The invention concerns a device for measuring and/or monitoring a process parameter, with a sensor, an intermittently working measurement circuit, which has at least one energy storer unit, wherein the measurement circuit or individual components of the measurement circuit are activated for a predetermined time span, the so-called active phase, and with a control center, wherein the measurement circuit and the control center are connected with one another over a two-wire line and wherein a control-/evaluation-unit is provided, which activates the measurement circuit at the earliest, when the energy in the energy storer unit has reached a predetermined level.
