  • Patent number: 6796729
Abstract: A shutter for a camera capable of opening a shutter sector in a reduced period of time includes a shutter opening formed in a shutter plate, shutter sectors for opening and closing the shutter opening, a drive lever having a drive pin for operating the shutter sectors, and an actuator for driving the drive lever. The drive pin penetrates through-holes formed in the shutter sectors. The through-holes have a size sufficiently large so that the drive lever is driven by the actuator substantially in a no-load state immediately after starting to drive the drive lever so that the shutter sectors are not moved until the drive pin has achieved sufficient acceleration.

  • Patent number: 6473217
Abstract: The space required in the vicinity of a shutter aperture can be reduced to achieve an overall reduction in size of a device by providing a diaphragm mechanism for covering the shutter aperture formed of a plurality of members cooperating with each other to cover the shutter aperture. By cooperation of a small-diaphragm plate having a diaphragm aperture formed therethrough smaller in diameter than the shutter aperture and an auxiliary plate, for example, a space reduction is facilitated. The small-diaphragm plate is pivotably mounted adjacent one side of the shutter aperture. The auxiliary plate has a shape that cooperates with the convex-arcuate portion to cover the shutter aperture. When the small-diaphragm plate and the auxiliary plate are driven by the diaphragm actuating member and moved to a first position covering the shutter aperture, the two plate cooperate to fully cover the shutter aperture.

  • Patent number: 5875363
Abstract: A camera shutter is capable of switching between a spring-drive mode and a motor-drive mode through a single electromagnet without performing an exposure operation. A control circuit controls a stepping motor for rotating a driving ring and the electromagnet for controlling the opening and closing operations of the diaphragm. A control circuit operates in a mode in which a first switch is turned ON, and in another mode in which a second switch is turned ON. When the first and second switches are turned ON, a normal photographing operation can be performed. However, when the first switch is turned ON and then OFF while keeping the second switch OFF, a power supply stop signal is transmitted to the electromagnet so that a closing sector is released from its restrained condition allowing the shutter to return to its initial state.

  • Patent number: 5862420
Abstract: A control device for a camera shutter comprises a diaphragm value setting device for setting a predetermined diaphragm value of the shutter, an exposure value setting device for setting an exposure value of the shutter, a storing device for storing an opening size of the shutter, output timings of signals for controlling opening and closing operations of the shutter, and an exposure value of the shutter corresponding to the set diaphragm value, and a control apparatus for controlling the opening and closing operations of the shutter on the basis of output signals from the diaphragm value setting device, the exposure value setting device and the storing device. The control apparatus calculates the output timings of the signals for controlling the opening and closing operations of the shutter on the basis of the exposure value of the shutter outputted from the exposure value setting device, and controls the opening and closing operations of the shutter on the basis of the results of the calculation.

  • Patent number: 5826119
Abstract: A camera operable in shutter-priority automatic exposure mode comprises a photometric circuit, an exposure data memory circuit for storing information on a plurality of selectable diaphragm openings, and a control circuit for calculating a desirable diaphragm opening based on a shutter speed preset prior to an exposure and luminance data output from the photometric circuit, and determining an actual diaphragm opening based on a comparison between the calculated diaphragm opening and the selectable diaphragm openings. The control circuit checks whether the preset shutter speed is higher or lower than a predefined reference shutter speed and selects one of the selectable diaphragm openings that provides a higher shutter speed if the preset shutter speed is higher than the reference shutter speed, or selects one of the selectable diaphragm openings that provides a lower shutter speed if the preset shutter speed is lower than the reference shutter speed.

  • Patent number: 5701537
Abstract: A camera shutter includes a driving member rotated in forward and reverse directions by a motor and having first and second control portions. A switching circuit switches an operating starting position of the driving member between first and second positions. An opening member is controlled by the first control portion of the driving member and a first biasing member biases the opening member in the direction of opening the shutter. A first restraint member restrains an operation of the opening member and resists the bias of the first biasing member. A closing member is controlled by the second control portion of the driving member and a second biasing member biases the closing member in the direction of closing the shutter. A second restraint member restrains an operation of the closing member and resists the bias of the second biasing member.

  • Patent number: 5291237
Abstract: A camera has a shutter which may also constitute a diaphragm. In a multi-flash mode the shutter selectively has a maximum aperture at an onset or at the end of the time base. The flash occurs in synchronism with a shutter waveform shaped by this aperture area and a time base element. In a second embodiment, a second diaphragm setting circuit is provided, in diaphragm priority photography, for computing a measurement value of a distance to a subject and a second diaphragm value from the guide number during an emission of flashed light. The diaphragm is set to the computed second diaphragm value, ad an electronic flash is energized with a desired aperture area. The diaphragm is set to an initial value to effect the photography at a time other than during the emission of flashed light. A timing circuit may be provided for setting the diaphragm to the second diaphragm value.

  • Patent number: 5028946
Abstract: A shutter for a single lens reflex camera, comprises a drive gear rotatable in opposite directions by a motor and having a non-tooth portion, a control gear directly or indirectly engageable with the drive gear, shutter blades driven by the control gear to open and close a shutter opening, and a spring for constantly biasing the control gear in a direction to close the shutter opening. Upon rotation of the drive gear, the control gear is rotated to face the non-tooth portion of the drive gear whereby the shutter blades are moved under the action of the spring to close the shutter opening. When the control gear is brought into meshing engagement with the drive gear, the shutter blades are rendered operative to open and close the shutter opening.
