  • Publication number: 20010042300
Abstract: A magnetic head having optimum recording/reproducing characteristics and a method for producing the magnetic head. A pair of magnetic core halves 2, 3, each having a substrate 4 and a thin magnetic metal film 6 formed obliquely on it, are bonded together via a non-magnetic material C for defining a magnetic gap. • Patent number: 6170150
Abstract: A method for producing a magnetic head with reduced cross talk. A position of a projection for forming a magnetic gap on each of two magnetic core half bodies is adjusted by forming first and second position adjusting projections for having sidewall surfaces that are vertical relative to surfaces for forming track width adjusting grooves.

  • Patent number: 6038109
Abstract: According to a magnetic head and a method of manufacturing the same, a connecting process required when a magnetic head is attached to a head base can be implemented with ease. A pair of magnetic core half blocks (3, 4) are joined to form a magnetic core for forming a closed magnetic circuit. A thin film coil (6) is formed on the joint surface in which the magnetic core half blocks (3, 4) are joined. Terminals (7) of the thin film coil (6) are formed on the same plane of a head side surface (10a) intersecting the above-mentioned joint surface, resulting in a magnetic head (10) being constructed.

  • Patent number: 6014291
Abstract: A magnetic head includes a first magnetic core half having a coil winding groove coupled to a second magnetic core half having an auxiliary core element accommodated in the coil winding groove, such that a magnetic gap is defined between joining faces of the first and second core halves. Alternatively, a composite magnetic head includes a pair of magnetic heads that have magnetic gaps with different azimuth angles from each other and disposed closely in an opposing relationship to each other in a head feeding direction so as to define respective track widths and a track pitch. A thin conductor film is formed on at least one of a pair of opposing faces of the magnetic heads for intercepting leakage fluxes from the magnetic gap of the other magnetic head. The thin conductor film has a thickness and is located such that the track pitch formed by the magnetic heads is substantially independent of the thickness of the thin conductor film.

  • Patent number: 5909343
Abstract: A magnetic head reduces a slant of a magnetic head chip in comparison with a conventional case. The magnetic head is produced by a manufacturing method. A ridge on a back surface side of a magnetic chip is brought into contact with a chip attachment surface of a chip attachment base. A height of the magnetic head chip is adjusted by using the ridge as a fulcrum.

  • Patent number: 5883766
Abstract: In a magnetic head which can be mounted in large number on a rotating drum in large number and cope with a highfrequency band, a leading core and a trailing core can be easily discriminated from each other, and the type of a magnetic head can be easily identified. There is disclosed a magnetic head including a pair of magnetic head halfmembers obtained by forming magnetic metal layers serving as magnetic cores on a part on a nonmagnetic substrate and a thinfilm coil buried in the pair of magnetic head halfmembers, the pair of magnetic head halfmembers being joined to each other through a magnetic gap formed between the magnetic metal layer of one magnetic head halfmember and the magnetic metal layer of the other magnetic head halfmember, wherein an identification groove is formed in one magnetic head halfmember, and the formed identification groove makes the appearances of the pair of magnetic head halfmembers asymmetrical.

  • Patent number: 5471355
Abstract: A magnetic head comprises a head base (56), and a pair of magnetic head chips (57, 58) of different azimuth angles (.theta..sub.1, .theta..sub.2) disposed on the head base (56). The pair of magnetic head chips (57, 58) are disposed in a stepped arrangement with respect to the direction of arrangement of tracks on a magnetic recording medium with a step (DA) substantially equal to the pitch (P) of tracks on the magnetic recording medium. The gap distance (GL) between the magnetic gaps of the magnetic head chips (57, 58) is shorter than the sum of the step (D) between adjacent tracks and the length (L) of interblock gap regions between video signal regions and audio signal regions arranged along the direction of the movement of the magnetic head. The magnetic head permits satisfactory audio signal after-recording and extended recording and reproducing of digital video signals on the magnetic recording medium even if the magnetic recording medium is a narrow magnetic tape of 8 mm or less in width.
