Thereby, development of wrinkles and inclined elongation in the tape itself are prevented when wound on a roll, the productivity is increased, and the product quality is improved.

    Abstract: In an extrusion type coating head according to the present invention, a center line average roughness (Ra) of an inner wall surface of a pocket is made in a predetermined range of 3.5 .mu.m or less and preferably a curvature part is provided, in the part where a surface of a slit joins to a surface of the pocket, which has the radius of curvature R of within a predetermined range. By these configurations, an easiness of cleaning in the pocket of the extrusion type coating head which is difficult to be cleaned is remarkably improved in particular, the rate of operation is improved, labor is saved, and adverse effects are prevented that might be brought by insufficient cleaning on the product coating such as streak generated on the coating surface and thickness fluctuation in the coating.

    Abstract: A magnetic recording medium comprises a non-magnetic base material; a lower magnetic layer containing a magnetic powder for recording in a long wavelength range and a resin binder; an upper magnetic layer containing a magnetic powder for recording in a short wavelength range and a resin binder; and an intermediate layer disposed between the two magnetic layers. By properly selecting the type and amount of resin binder contained in the upper magnetic layer and by disposing the intermediate layer whose main component is a resin binder, dispersion property of the magnetic powder in the upper magnetic layer can highly be improved, and thin and smooth magnetic layers can be obtained. Thus, the recording medium provides excellent reproduction characteristics in the wide wavelength range and has excellent running durability. In particular, the reproduction characteristics in a short wavelength range can be improved.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a coating head for coating a solution on a flexible support which is moved so as to run along a coating surface of the coating head. The coating surface is slitted so as to form a front face, a back face in order in the moving direction of the flexible support, and a slit therebetween so that the coating head extrudes the solution through the slit to the flexible support. The front face has an arc surface with a curvature radius of r.sub.1 and the back face wholly forms an arc surface with a curvature radius of r.sub.2 in the following equations 3 mm <r.sub.2 < 20 mm and 1 mm <r.sub.1 <r.sub.2 /2. Further, at least a part of the back face projects beyond the tangent line at the downstream end of the front face.
