  • Patent number: 6808845
Abstract: The present invention relates to an electrode metal material for batteries, capacitors, etc, used in contact with non-aqueous electrolyte, and particularly to a capacitor formed of the electrode metal material, and provides a valve metal material capable of decreasing the internal resistance of the capacitor. The electrode metal material comprises a valve metal material and numerous carbon particles included in the surface of the valve metal material. The carbon particles are further fixed in the surface of the valve metal material so as to expose to the surface. The electrode metal material is coated with an activated carbon layer and used as a double-layer electrode for an electric double-layer capacitor. The carbon particles included in the surface ensure conduction between the activated carbon layer and the valve metal material.

  • Publication number: 20020080559
Abstract: A capacitor includes an anode foil having an anode foil dielectric film deposited thereon by anodic oxidation; an anode lead member including a first metal core with roughness and an anode lead dielectric film deposited on the roughness by anodic oxidation, said anode lead member being electrically connected to the anode foil; a cathode foil opposing to the anode foil interposing a separator between them; a cathode lead member being electrically connected to the cathode foil; and a container filled up with an electrolyte and containing the anode foil, anode lead member, cathode foil and cathode lead member therein. The anodizing voltage employed during anodic oxidation to form the anode lead dielectric film is equal to or higher than about 70% of that used to form the anode foil dielectric film.

  • Patent number: 5450279
Abstract: An electric double layer capacitor having a rectangular cross-section for an excellent volumetric efficiency and a low internal resistance is disclosed. The capacitor comprises a plurality of sheet-like current collectors in one polarity and in the other polarity; the surfaces of the both collectors are formed into polarizable electrodes composed mainly of activated carbon with a binder; a plurality of separators interposed between the current collectors of the one polarity and those of the other polarity.

  • Patent number: 5381303
Abstract: An electric double layer capacitor of reduced internal resistance is manufactured using unit electrodes each consisting of a collector layer and a polarizable electrode layer bonded together through a diffusion layer composed of components of the two layers. To manufacture the capacitor, a pair of unit electrodes are disposed with the respective polarizable electrode layers facing each other and, after impregnation with an electrolyte, the peripheral surfaces of the unit electrodes are sealed with a sealant resin.
