    Abstract: A motor control device controls a drive of a motor having a coil, and includes a drive circuit and a control unit. The drive circuit has a plurality of switching elements, and switches the energization of the coil. The control unit includes an energization control part and a current limit part. The energization control part accelerates and then decelerates the motor, and controls energization of the coil so that a rotation position of the motor stops at a target rotation position. The current limit part limits the current during a deceleration control.

    Abstract: A floating magnetic head for use in a fixed-type magnetic disk drive has a slider with a coil groove defined therein and opening at the trailing end of the slider. The coil groove has a bottom remote whose width is smaller than the width of the coil groove at the trailing end. The coil groove may be tapered linearly or stepwise, and the bottom may be arcuate in shape. The slider has upper and lower walls between which the coil groove is defined, the upper and lower walls being progressively thicker toward the bottom of the coil groove. The progressively thicker upper and lower walls are mechanically strong against shocks and other excessive forces, and also against stresses applied from coils wound in multiple layers on a core tip inserted in a slit that is defined in the slider across the coil groove.

    Abstract: A knowledge-based system comprising a plurality of knowledge processors each of which includes a knowledge base and performs a reasoning process for replying to a request from a user, and a file server which is connected to the knowledge processors through a transmission line. When each knowledge processor cannot resolve the user's request with the knowledge base of its own, it sends a request message to the other processor or processors through the transmission line. Reply messages from the other knowledge processors complying with the request message are managed in correspondence with the requests by the file server which receives the reply messages, and when a predetermined condition has been established, a reply is given to the knowledge processor which is the source of the request.
