  • Patent number: 5239385
Abstract: A communication apparatus includes a communicating unit, an identifying unit, and a control unit. The communicating unit has an automatic communication mode for automatically responding to a call from a calling destination and communicating with the destination and a manual communication mode for performing communication in accordance with a manual command from an operator. The identifying unit identifies whether a calling destination is registered. The control unit selects the automatic communication mode or the manual communication mode in accordance with an identification result obtained by the identifying unit.

  • Patent number: 5175566
Abstract: A facsimile apparatus is equipped with an ink jet printing unit, capable of reducing the number of ink discharge recovery operations of the ink jet recording head, thereby reducing the ink consumption. The received image data are stored in an image memory, with inspection for errors in transmission in an error correction mode, and are collectively printed after a predetermined amount of image data are stored. The recording head is uncapped by a protocol signal transmitted after the image data.

  • Patent number: 5132711
Abstract: A recording apparatus includes a recording unit for ejecting an ink to a recording member, a detection unit for detecting a remaining amount of ink, a memory for storing receiving data, and a control unit for controlling an operation of the recording unit to record an image in accordance with the receiving data, and controlling the memory to store image data in the memory. The control unit controls the memory in accordance with an output from the detection unit upon completion of recording of a predetermined volume of data, clears data stored in the memory when the output from the detection unit indicates a presence of ink, and preserves data stored in the memory when the output from the detection unit indicates an absence of ink.

  • Patent number: 5132710
Abstract: A facsimile apparatus employs an ink jet printer in which the ink discharge recovery operation by idle ink discharge from all the discharge openings of the recording head is conducted at a suitable timing instructed by a central processing unit. The timing of the idle ink discharge is determined not by a timer interruption procedure, which imposes an additional burden on the processing capacity of the central processing unit, but from the image data receiving rate and the amount of actually received data. In this manner the central processing unit can provide increased processing capacity, and the control program can be simplified and made less expensive.
