  • Patent number: 9813319
Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting packet loss in a communication network are provided. A first network element can determine that a first group of packets meets an observation threshold. The observation threshold can comprise a predetermined number of packets in a sequence. A first timer can be initiated when the first group of packets meets the observation threshold. A first packet can be detected at the first network element after the first timer is initiated. The first timer can be re-initiated when the first packet is detected at the first network element before the first timer expires and the first packet comprises a packet in the sequence greater than a last detected packet. A first packet loss can be determined when the first packet is not a next packet in the sequence.

  • Patent number: 9648548
Abstract: A wireless mesh network is configured. Each node is configured to function as either a gateway node or a relay node. To configure itself as a gateway node, an access node selects an SSID for each of its wireless interfaces that indicates it is an access node. When a relay access node is configuring itself, it scans for the SSIDs of available networks. The SSIDs of the mesh network are selected to indicate the number of other access points between a given access node and a direct wired connection (which is zero in the case of a gateway node.) The relay access node connects to the network having an SSID that indicates the fewest number of hops between itself and a direct wired connection. The SSID that is broadcast by the relay access node indicates the number of other access points between itself and a direct wired connection.

  • Patent number: 9560611
Abstract: Methods, media, and systems are provided for characterizing the synchronization behavior of a slave clock. A sequence of sync packets, usable to synchronize with a grandmaster clock, is transmitted from the grandmaster clock to a slave clock. The sequence of sync packets is modified by dropping one or more sync packets from the sequence, providing a pattern of dropped sync packets. A synchronization output of the slave clock is monitored and, based on the synchronization output, a determination is made as to whether the slave clock is synchronized while the sequence of sync packets is modified. A characterization of the synchronization behavior of the slave clock is stored with respect to the pattern of dropped sync packets. The process may be repeated for various patterns of dropped sync packets.
