A display controller of the display system displays an icon control window on a display screen of the display system for changing an icon appearance of the display system conveniently. The control window includes at least one sample icon for a user's preview, and the sample icon's appearance is automatically updated upon receiving inputs for a new icon appearance from a user. When the user is satisfied with the updated sample icon's appearance and enters an execution command, the display controller finally changes the icon appearance of the display system by changing corresponding display properties according to the user inputs.

Abstract: A method and display apparatus of providing an advance screen saver warning is disclosed. The display apparatus includes a parameter set unit, a counter, and a controller. The parameter set unit initially predetermines a screen saver standby time and an advance screen saver warning time, and the counter counts a current system idle time during which no system input activity is detected. Then the controller activates an advance screen saver warning before activating a screen saver if the current system idle time is greater than or equal to a time difference between the screen saver standby time and the advance screen saver warning time, where the advance warning may be in the form of a warning window displayed on a display screen or a warning sound outputted through a speaker.

The video display appliance also comprises a magnetic field absorbing coil 30 placed between a glass envelope 12 and the deflection yoke 22, a magnetic field remover 25, a back plate 34 mounted on a video board 27, a below plate 28, and a shielding member 60, 160 or 260 secured detachable to the inner surface of the back cover 6, for shielding the electromagnetic field emitted from the deflection yoke. The shielding means comprises an oblong closed-loop wire 62, 162, 262 or 265, and lead wires 64 having at each end a ground terminal. Accordingly, the electric field emitted in an upward direction from the deflection yoke is easily eliminated by means of the shielding member having a simple construction and being easily installed.
