The oven comprises a cabinet, a door to open and close an opened front surface of the cabinet, a partition unit to partition the interior of the cabinet into a plurality of independent cooking chambers, and electric heaters mounted in the cooking chambers. The partition unit includes first and second heat-insulating layers opposite to each other and an air layer disposed between the first and second heat-insulating layers. An inlet and an outlet are formed at the air layer, and a blowing fan is mounted at the inlet. Bent guide members are disposed in the air layer to guide air such that the air uniformly flows throughout the air layer.

The oven includes an insulating unit and a cooling unit mounted at each side plate to prevent heat transfer between first and second cooking spaces along each side plate. The insulating unit includes a slit formed right under the partition, an insulating member fitted in the slit, and a supporting member attached to the inside of each side plate. The cooling unit includes an air guide member attached to the outside of each side plate to cover the insulating member, and a blowing fan connected to the air guide member to forcibly blow outside air to the air guide member.

Abstract: A microwave oven prevents an overcooking of small food portions. The oven includes a weight sensing device for sensing the weight of food to be cooked. If the sensed food weight is greater than a reference weight, then a cooking time is set, e.g., manually or automatically on the basis of a selected cooking mode and/or the sensed food weight. If the sensed food weight is less than the reference weight, then a maximum cooking time is automatically set which is the same, regardless of the amount by which the food weight is less than the reference weight. The cooking time cannot exceed that maximum time period, thereby ensuring that the food will not be overcooked.

Abstract: A microwave oven wherein at least a microwave cooking mode and an electric resistance heater cooking mode can be selected by a user. A tray for supporting foodstuff can be raised and lowered and rotated about a vertical axis. A weight measuring mechanism determines the weight of foodstuff on the tray. During a cooking sequence, an operator selects a cooking mode, and the weight of foodstuff is measured. A controller determines a desired cooking elevation as a function of the cooking mode and weight of the foodstuff. A rotation mechanism begins to rotate the tray, and then the rotating tray is raised to the desired elevation, whereupon a cooking operation is performed while the tray is rotated at the desired elevation. At the end of the cooking operation, the tray is lowered to its initial position while still being rotated.

Abstract: A microwave oven has a cooking chamber in which a tray is provided for supporting food to be cooked. The tray is rotatable and can be raised and lowered. Cooking can be performed by microwaves and/or an electric resistance heater disposed in the cooking chamber. A sensor disposed in the cooking chamber detects a condition wherein food on the rising tray is at a height corresponding to that of the heater. In response to the sensing of such a condition the heater is turned off, a mechanism for raising the tray is also turned off, and a warning is emitted.

The microwave oven has a food-thawing mode and a food-cooking mode. In the thawing mode, the oven is capable of bringing food to different states of thawing in response to the selection of a specific food-thawing key. In the food-cooking mode, various cooking levels can be selected.

Abstract: A convection microwave oven has a high frequency generator for microwave cooking, and an electric heater for convection cooking. The heater is disposed within a cooking chamber at an upper portion thereof. A channel is disposed outside of the cooking chamber and communicates with the cooking chamber through an air inlet and an air outlet formed in vertically spaced relationship in a rear wall of the cooking chamber. A fan is situated within the channel adjacent the air inlet for drawing air from the cooking chamber via the air inlet, and discharging the air back into the cooking chamber via the air outlet. The air outlet is positioned to direct the discharged air toward the electric heater. The cross-sectional area of the channel can become either larger or smaller from the air inlet to the air outlet.

Abstract: A microwave oven has a food tray which can be both rotated and elevated. A weight sensing unit senses the weight of the tray and any food thereon, for controlling the operation of a tray elevation/rotation mechanism. The tray is not elevated if the weight of the food is detected to be greater than a predetermined elevation weight, in order to prevent excessive pressure from being applied to the elevation/rotation mechanism and the weight sensing unit. If the weight of the food is detected to be greater than a maximum possible cooking weight, no cooking is performed, and an error signal is displayed.

Abstract: An oven is capable of cooking food in a microwave mode or in a simultaneous microwave/convection mode. During the microwave cooking mode, a first fan blows outside cooling air through an electrical component compartment and then into a cooking chamber via through-holes formed in a partition wall separating the compartment from the cooking chamber. During the simultaneous microwave/convection cooking mode, cooling air is prevented from entering the cooking chamber via the through-holes by an air curtain established across the cooking chamber side of the through-holes. The air curtain is established by a second air circulator which blows heated air into the cooking chamber in a direction toward the through-holes.
