Abstract: A method, computer-readable storage medium, and device for converting user handwriting into text information by reflecting a paragraph form of the user handwriting in an electronic device is provided. The method includes receiving a handwriting input from a user, recognizing the received handwriting input and converting the recognized handwriting input into text information, recognizing a paragraph form of the received handwriting input, and applying the recognized paragraph form to the converted text information.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for verifying an input signature are provided. The method includes generating signature data based on a real touch event and a proximity touch event that occur on a touch input unit of and apparatus, extracting a feature of the input signature based on the signature data, and determining whether to authenticate the input signature based on a similarity between the feature of the input signature and a corresponding feature of a previously stored reference signature.

Abstract: A code recognition method for adjusting a User Interface (UI) rotation angle of a code recognition application depending on the direction of a recognition code or text entered through a camera is provided. The code recognition method includes detecting at least a portion of the recognition code from an image including the recognition code; determining a code rotation angle of the recognition code; and extracting the recognition code or a text from the image including the recognition code based on the code rotation angle of the recognition code.

Abstract: Apparatuses and methods are provided for executing a function corresponding to a handwritten user input at the same time as providing a handwritten unlock command on a lock screen of an electronic device. The apparatus includes a touch screen that displays a lock screen including a first layer for unlocking the lock screen and a second layer that is laid over the first layer, and a controller that verifies that an unlock command is the same as a predetermined unlock command in response to the unlock command being input to the first layer, to display the second layer in response to the unlock command being the same as the predetermined unlock command, and to search for a command corresponding to a handwritten user input that is input to the second layer to execute the command.

Abstract: A method and a portable terminal for identifying a counterfeit bill. The method includes receiving, by the portable terminal, an image of a bill photographed using visible rays and an image of the bill photographed using infrared rays; determining a denomination of the bill by comparing the image photographed using the visible rays with a denomination database; obtaining correction information using the image photographed using the visible rays and a corresponding bill image in the denomination database; forming a corrected image by correcting the image photographed using the infrared rays using the correction information; and determining whether the bill is counterfeit by comparing the corrected image with an image of the corresponding bill pre-stored in a genuine bill database.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for recognizing characters using an image are provided. A camera is activated according to a character recognition request and a preview mode is set for displaying an image photographed through the camera in real time. An auto focus of the camera is controlled and an image having a predetermined level of clarity is obtained for character recognition from the images obtained in the preview mode. The image for character recognition is character-recognition-processed so as to extract recognition result data. A final recognition character row is drawn that excludes non-character data from the recognition result data. A first word is combined including at least one character of the final recognition character row and a predetermined maximum number of characters. A dictionary database that stores dictionary information on various languages using the first word is searched, so as to provide the user with the corresponding word.

Abstract: A bridge-based cellular Ethernet system and a handover processing method therefore are provided. In the bridge-based cellular Ethernet system, an HLR manages configuration information about network entities, and a plurality of Base Station Bridges (BSBs) are connected to a plurality of Base Stations (BSs), each BSB including a layer 2 switch, and a plurality of SCBs connected to part of the BSBs under the SCBs. Each SCB includes a layer 2 switch forming a core network, and SCB monitors the signal power of a Mobile Node (MN) within its service area, determines whether the MN is to move to another site, selects a new SCB to which the MN is to move, sends necessary path information to associated SCBs and the HLR, for setting of the path information in the associated SCBs and the HLR, and commands a handover to the MN.

Groups of skin color blocks corresponding to a hand are detected from among image frames output from a camera. A motion is detected among the groups of skin color blocks. Direction information is obtained on the detected motion. The application is controlled to display a previous picture or a next picture in the sequence of pictures on the display according to the direction information.

Abstract: A method is provided for recognizing characters of an image captured using a camera in a mobile terminal. The camera captures an image of a signboard. A text area is extracted from the captured image. Characters are recognized from the extracted text area. At least one text is generated by combining the recognized characters. The at least one text is compared with at least one store name within a predetermined range. A comparison result is output.
