Abstract: The invention concerns an equipment in a paper/board machine for regulation of the difference of draw. In the solution in accordance with the invention, the difference of draw in the web is regulated on the basis of the measured tension of the web. Preferably, the regulation of the difference of draw takes place by regulating the drives at the inlet and/or outlet of a web run not supported by a wire.

Abstract: The invention concerns a press section of a paper or paperboard making machine, comprising a number of rolls (1, 11, 22, 32, 44, 70) which forms press nips (N.sub.1, N.sub.2, N.sub.3, N.sub.4) that dewater the web (W) with each other, the web being arranged to run through these nips. Of the rolls at least one roll (1;70) is a smooth-faced so-called center roll, which forms a press nip (N.sub.2, N.sub.3 ;N.sub.4) with at least one other press roll (11, 32, 44), over which a press felt (10, 30; 40), which has been formed as an endless loop, is passed to absorb water from the web (W). The center roll (1; 70) in accordance with the invention is a variable-crown roll, which comprises a metallic roll mantle (2; 71) arranged to revolve around a stationary roll axle (3; 72). Abstract: The combination of the press section and the initial part of a multi-cylinder drying section in a paper making machine wherein the press section comprises a compact press roll arrangement, whose rolls (16, 18, 20, 21) form press nips (N.sub.1, N.sub.2, N.sub.3) with one another. The press section further comprises a separate press, whose press rolls (30, 31) form a press nip (N.sub.4). The drying section of the combination comprises a multi-cylinder dryer comprising different cylinder groups (25, 39). Between the compact press roll arrangement and the separate press, a group of pre-drying cylinders (25) is fitted, said group being provided with a single-wire draw of the web (W) so that the upper cylinders (25a, 25b, 25c) in the group (25) of pre-drying cylinders remain outside the loop of the drying wire (26), which accomplishes the single-wire draw.
