Patent number: 9138564Abstract: A catheter assembly is disclosed herein including a hub assembly and a needle retracting device. The hub assembly includes a hub and a catheter attached to the hub. The needle retracting device releasably attached to the hub assembly and arranged to project a needle through the catheter for catheterization and to retract the needle and allow detachment from the hub assembly. The needle retracting device includes a chassis extending from a base and a slider carrying the needle supported on the chassis. The slider arranged to move away from the base from a position in which the needle projects through the catheter to a position in which the needle is withdrawn from the catheter and shielded by the chassis. The chassis and hub include movable locking members and cooperating locking surfaces for engaging the locking members. The slider includes retaining surfaces for limiting movement of the locking members.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 2014Date of Patent: September 22, 2015Assignee: Applied Medical Technology Ltd.Inventors: Ray Morrissey, Serge Barneaud

Publication number: 20140336583Abstract: A catheter assembly is disclosed. The catheter assembly comprise a hub assembly (4) comprising a hub (6) and a catheter (2) attached to the hub and a needle retracting device (5) releasably attached to hub assembly which is arranged to project a needle (3) through the catheter to allow catheterization and, in response to user actuation, to retract the needle and to be detached or to allow detachment from the hub assembly. The needle retaining device comprises a chassis (20) extending along an axis from a base (24) and a slider (21) carrying the needle supported on the chassis, arranged to be moveable away from the base along the axis from a first position in which the needle projects through the catheter to a second position in which the needle is withdrawn from the catheter and is shielded by the chassis. The chassis and hub comprise movable locking members (29;FIG. 8) and cooperating locking surfaces (17; FIG.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 21, 2014Publication date: November 13, 2014Applicant: Applied Medical Technology Ltd.Inventors: Ray Morrissey, Serge Barneaud

Patent number: 8348881Abstract: The invention concerns a device for injecting a solid medicine (10) comprising a body (2) inside which moves along a general forward moving axis (X-X) a bevelled (34) needle (4) wherein is introduced the medicine (10), said injection device (1) further comprising retaining means for preventing the medicine from falling (10) prior to being injected. The invention is characterized in that the medicine (10) is retained through an elastic deformation imparted to the needle (4) by the retaining means or by an elastic deformation of the retaining means themselves, or still by the combined flexibility of those two means.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2005Date of Patent: January 8, 2013Assignee: Société de Conseils de Recherches et d'Applications Scientifiques (S.C.R.A.S) SASInventors: Christophe Aubert, Roland Cherif-Cheikh, Thierry Rimlinger, Fabrice Bonacci, Serge Barneaud

Patent number: 8029458Abstract: The invention relates to a device which is used to inject an implant (6) into tissues (50). The inventive device is characterized in that it comprises: a main hollow body (2; 2?) having a hollow needle (4; 4?) fixed thereto, into which the implant (6) is introduced; a secondary body (26; 26?) which is disposed coaxially inside the main body (2; 2?) and which surrounds the needle (4; 4?); and a plunger rod (36; 36?) which can slide coaxially inside the hollow needle (4; 4?).Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2005Date of Patent: October 4, 2011Assignee: Sociétéde Conseils de Recherches et d'Applications Scientifiques (S.C.R.A.S.)
