When there is a play request for contents, it is determined whether there is a common Rights Object (RO) linked with an RO of the requested contents. When there is a common RO, information about consumption of advertisements on a plurality of contents is obtained from the common RO. At least one advertisement linked with the requested contents is played on the basis of the obtained information.

Abstract: A system and method for managing an encryption key are provided, which include receiving, from a DRM agent, an RO request message for receiving content; generating a KSP including a first key and a second key; applying hash chains with different directions to the first key and to the second key to generate an encryption key for the content; and transmitting, to the DRM agent, a response message including a context element having an identifier of the content and a key information element. The key information element includes a first encryption key element; a rights encryption key information element; and an encryption data element.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing tokens for Digital Rights Management (DRM) in a terminal are provided. In the method, at least one token is acquired from a Rights Issuer (RI), and the token is moved to a Secure Removable Media (SRM) through a token move request message. The token can be shared by several terminals.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a broadcast service in a communication system is provided. The method includes generating a key pair comprising a first key and a second key, generating at least one of forward encryption keys by applying a forward hash chain to the first key, generating at least one of reverse encryption keys by applying a reverse hash chain to the second key, generating at least one of encryption keys using the at least one of forward encryption keys and the at least one of reverse encryption keys, encrypting broadcast service data using the at least one of encryption keys, and broadcasting the encrypted broadcast service data.

Abstract: A method and a system for distributing an encryption key for service protection and content protection in a mobile broadcasting system are provided where a network generates a first encryption key when a broadcasting service is first provided to the terminal, and transmits a long term key message including the generated first encryption key to the terminal. Also, the network generates a second encryption key before the lifetime of a first access value pair expires, and transmits a long term key message including the generated second encryption key to the terminal.

A method for reporting a consumption time of the service or the content in a terminal of a content transmission system includes receiving an encryption key for encrypting the service or the content from a broadcasting server and transmitting a message requesting interpretation of the encryption key to a smart card. The message includes consumption time information of the service or the content.

Abstract: A method is provided for controlling content playback by a terminal in a content delivery system. The method includes receiving streaming content from a service provider, the streaming content including zone information of each zone and an associated identifier of each zone for identifying a terminal's operation mode, determining the terminal's operation mode depending on the identifier, and controlling playback of the streaming content in a zone corresponding to the zone information according to the determined operation mode.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for providing a DRM service by a user terminal apparatus consuming DRM content in a service environment that provides the DRM content using a plurality of incompatible DRM systems. A license corresponding to the DRM content is acquired from a service providing apparatus that provides the DRM content. It is determined whether the license is a common license having a common DRM interface format. The common DRM interface format of the common license is converted to a format of a first DRM system installed in the user terminal apparatus, when the license is the common license. The license having the format of the first DRM system is applied in reproducing the DRM content. The common license is provided from the service providing apparatus to the user terminal apparatus through a common DRM interface when the service providing apparatus does not support the first DRM system.

Abstract: The present invention proposes a method for obtaining a digital right management (DRM) function for playing DRM contents on a user device according to need. To this end, the present invention comprises the steps of, when a user device requests a specific DRM contents or accesses a service system, a user device obtaining a rights object corresponding to a request; determining information on a current DRM function using the rights object; and when a new DRM function is required, installing a new DRM function or upgrading the standard DRM function.

Abstract: Disclosed is a DRM Proxy Server Agent (DRM PSA), which converts a format of a DRM system into a format recognizable in a user terminal when the user terminal and a service provider do not use the same type of DRM system. The user terminal downloads the DRM PSA from the service provider and installs the DRM PSA in the user terminal. Through the download and installation of the DRM PSA, the user terminal can use various DRM systems provided by the service provider regardless of the type of DRM system installed in the user terminal.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for playing an advertisement in a device depending on use of a multimedia service are provided. The method includes receiving a user request to execute request specific content; determining whether advertisement enforced-watching information is included in a rights object representing a user's consumption rights for the specific content; executing the specific content; stopping, if the advertisement enforced-watching information is included in the rights object the execution of the specific content according to the advertisement enforced-watching information and providing the advertisement to the user after stopping the execution of the specific content; and resuming the stopped execution of the specific content after providing the advertisement to the user is completed.
