  • Publication number: 20240131245
Abstract: A valve assembly for controlled drainage or delivery of a fluid from or to a patient including an outlet, an inlet, a diaphragm chamber and a diaphragm dividing the diaphragm chamber into a first chamber cavity and a second chamber cavity. The diaphragm being deflectable toward a first wall of the diaphragm chamber wherein the first chamber cavity contracts and the second chamber cavity expands, and oppositely toward a second wall of the diaphragm chamber wherein the second chamber cavity contracts and the first chamber cavity expands. A plunger is translatable between a first actuation state that establishes fluid communication between the outlet and the second chamber cavity, and separately between the inlet and the first chamber cavity. The valve also having a second actuation state that establishes fluid communication between the outlet and the first chamber cavity, and separately between the inlet and the second chamber cavity.

  • Publication number: 20230256227
Abstract: A valve assembly for controlled drainage or delivery of a fluid from or to a patient including a first port (182), a second port (184), a diaphragm chamber and a diaphragm (132) dividing the diaphragm chamber into a first chamber cavity (158A) and a second chamber cavity (158B). A valve (212) is actuatable between a first actuation state that establishes fluid communication between the first port and the second chamber cavity and separately between the second port and the first chamber cavity. The valve also having a second actuation state that establishes fluid communication between the first port and the first chamber cavity, and separately between the second port and the second chamber cavity.

  • Publication number: 20220387694
Abstract: A spill protection basin for preventing spilling overflow fluid from a surgical site of a patient. The basin includes a perimeter wall defining an inner volume. A suction port is formed in the perimeter wall and adjacent to a bottom end thereof. The suction port is configured to permit drawing fluid from the inner volume when suction is applied thereto.

  • Patent number: 8920517
Abstract: An energy-storing prosthetic knee includes an upper leg structure and a lower leg structure hingedly connected to the upper leg structure. The lower and upper leg structures move pivotally relative to one another. A fluid actuator is operatively connected to the upper and lower leg structures such that relative pivotal movement of the upper and lower leg structures causes a fluid to flow in a predetermined manner within the fluid actuator. At least two controllable variable fluid flow resisting devices, an accumulator, and a control system are also provided. The control system is actuable to cause storage of the fluid energy for a predetermined length of time and release of the fluid energy at a predetermined time during the gait cycle. Both the storage and release of the fluid energy are variable by action of the control system without physical modification of other components of the prosthetic knee.
