  • Patent number: 5597263
Abstract: A sealing assembly for sealing a manhole against entering liquid includes a support ring fixed to the manhole's skirt and a sealing member resting on the support ring. The sealing member has a base with a foam ring under it, and pressing members on top of it for pressing the base against the support ring with the foam in between. The sealing member also has a top which is flexibly connected to the base. The top is fixed to the manhole cover with a gasket between it and the cover.

  • Patent number: 5564858
Abstract: A protective collar for a nozzle adaptor and fill pipe assembly includes a collar body with upper throughholes and lower throughholes. The upper throughholes have bolts or set screws passing therethrough for contacting the nozzle adaptor, and the lower throughholes have threaded rods passing therethrough for contacting the standpipe. Bracing assemblies are telescopically mounted on the threaded rods. The bracing assemblies are T-shaped and include friction pads for contacting inner walls of a spill bucket in which the fill pipe is located and are connected to the protective collar by a tubular stem fitted over the threaded rods. There is a nut for telescoping the T-shaped bracing member outwardly against the walls to engage the walls and prevent rotation of the nozzle adaptor. In another embodiment, the nozzle adaptor and collar are unitarily formed.

  • Patent number: 5529098
Abstract: A containment box for collecting leaking gasoline from gasoline handling equipment, such as a gasoline dispenser, is disposed below the dispenser. The box receives a gasoline supply pipe passing through an aperture, and a fitting is provided for sealing the aperture and adjustably fixing the supply pipe. The fitting includes a main body, a deformable element, a seating piece for seating the deformable element and threaded to the main body, and a clamping piece threadable onto the seating piece to cam the deformable element radially inward to contact the supply pipe. In another embodiment, the main body and seating piece are combined unitarily. The box has another aperture through which a conduit passes, and there is a universal fitting for sealing that aperture. The universal fitting includes a main body with an external shoulder and a nut which threads onto the main body, with gaskets disposed between the shoulder and box and between the nut and box.

  • Patent number: 5474396
Abstract: A sealing assembly for sealing a manhole against entering liquid includes a guide ring with an adjustable diameter and set screws for pressing against interior walls of the manhole when the diameter of the guide ring is set to approximately the diameter of the manhole walls, a sealing ring for resting on top of the guide ring and an expandable ring disposed at the inner periphery of the sealing ring and expanded to compress the sealing ring against the walls of the manhole to provide a liquid-tight seal. The sealing assembly also includes a lid positioned on top of the sealing ring. The lid preferably has a removable portion to allow access through the lid without taking the lid off of the sealing ring and without destroying the integrity of the caulking.

  • Patent number: 5135324
Abstract: A secondary containment in which gasoline passes from a storage tank through an underground pipeline past an impact valve to an inlet of a gasoline dispenser includes inner and outer pipelines. The inner pipeline includes a rigid segment connected to the storage tank at one end and a flexible pipe segment at its other end. The flexible segment further connects to an additional pipe segment which passes through the bottom of a gasoline containment box to an impact valve housed therein. The impact valve, in turn, leads to the dispenser inlet. The box is installed below the dispenser, and the flexible segment connects to the additional pipe segment at a point below the box. The flexible segment is removed from the outer pipeline by disconnecting it from the rigid pipe segment, then disconnecting the impact valve from the dispenser inlet and box, and removing the impact valve from the box. The additional pipe segment and the flexible pipe segment are thus pulled through the bottom of the containment box.

  • Patent number: 5058854
Abstract: A tool for installing an object for example a flammable fluids containment box in a form for a concrete structure has an elongated bar oriented horizontally, and four slidable assemblies mounted on it. Two outer assemblies each have a horizontal rod section around the bar and a T-screw or allen head bolt for fastening the rod section in place on the bar. The outer assemblies have a mechanism to engage a lip of the form, and a mechanism to support the assembly on the ground outside the form if the form is lipless. The inner assemblies each have a horizontal rod section that fastens in place on the horizontal rod, and has a vertical rod attached to its underside. At the bottom of the vertical rod is an assembly for fastening the containment box such that the tool thus suspends the containment box in position in the form, so that the box will set in place in the concrete.

  • Patent number: 4428395
Abstract: A lock apparatus for attachment to the top of an input pipe communicating with a storage tank includes an open-ended cylindrical housing for mounting to the top of the input pipe, a valve assembly pivotally mounted in the housing with a valve activating axle protruding through an orifice in the housing, and a locking mechanism. The valve assembly includes at least one valve plate with a seal member provided around the edge of the valve plate for sealing the space between the edge of the valve plate and the cylindrical housing when the valve assembly is closed. The locking mechanism includes a latch pivotally attached to the protruding end of the axle, a lock flange attached to the outside of the housing and a tamper prevention flange above and in linear alignment with the axle and the latch to prevent unauthorized tampering with the axle and attached latch. The latch may be coupled to the lock flange and locked to maintain the valve in the closed position across the interior of the housing.

  • Patent number: 4341326
Abstract: A gasoline pump computer reset lock apparatus has a mounting bracket for being attached inside a gasoline pump housing. A bolt or plunger is moveably positioned in a plunger housing attached to the mounting bracket. The plunger is in a locked position when one of its ends is closed against a stop and is in an unlocked position when that one end is spaced back from the stop. A control apparatus is coupled to move the plunger to the locked or unlocked positions. One end of a link is attached to a rotatable crank member. The crank is coupled to a reset lever so that the link moves into the space between the plunger and the stop when the reset lever is rotated. The link is moveably attached to the mounting bracket so that when the plunger is in the locked position against the stop, the forward end of the link encounters the plunger and is prevented from moving into the space.
