  • Patent number: 7518496
Abstract: A transmitter unit of an apparatus for monitoring the condition of a tire includes a casing having an opening defined in an end of the casing. A transmitter is received in the casing through the opening. The transmitter gathers and wirelessly transmits information regarding the condition of the tire. The casing is secured to the outer circumferential surface of a rim wheel of the tire by an adhesive tape or an adhesive agent. Accordingly, the transmitter unit is capable of being attached to the rim wheel in a suitable manner.

  • Patent number: 7145443
Abstract: A transmitter is mounted on a wheel of a vehicle by a jig of an automatic mounting machine. The transmitter has a measuring-transmitting portion, a valve stem, and a casing. The measuring-transmitting portion measures data representing the conditions of the tire and transmits data. The valve stem is inserted into the wheel and allows air to flow into the tire. The casing accommodates the measuring-transmitting portion, and has a recessed portion. The jig of the automatic mounting machine is engaged with the recessed portion when the automatic mounting machine holds the valve stem. Therefore, even a valve stem with the casing is easily attached to a valve hole of the wheel by using the automatic mounting machine.

  • Patent number: 6963274
Abstract: Transmitters of a tire condition monitoring apparatus that monitors condition of vehicle tires. Each transmitter has a measuring sensor, a transmission circuit, a vehicle speed sensor and a controller. The measuring sensor measures condition of the corresponding tire. The transmission circuit periodically transmits data representing the tire condition. The vehicle speed sensor detects moving of the vehicle. The controller sets a delay time, the delay time being a period from when the vehicle speed sensor detects moving of the vehicle to when the data representing the condition of the corresponding tire is transmitted. The delay time varies from one transmitter to another.

  • Patent number: 6959597
Abstract: A transmitter for a tire state monitoring apparatus that is easily connected to a wheel in an optimal manner. The transmitter includes a valve stem connected to a wheel to which the tire is attached. Electric components are mounted on a circuit board to detect the state of the tire. A casing accommodates the circuit board in the tire. The casing faces toward an outer circumferential surface of the wheel. A connecting portion connects the casing to the valve stem pivotally about a line perpendicular to the axial direction of the valve stem. A pressing mechanism presses the casing toward the outer circumferential surface of the wheel to restrict pivoting of the casing.

  • Patent number: 6895810
Abstract: A mounting structure for a transmitter of a tire condition monitoring apparatus that enables the transmitter to be attached to wheels having different cross sectional shapes. A wheel has a drop center and a rim formed integrally with the drop center at a predetermined angle relative to the drop center. The mounting structure includes a valve stem arranged on the rim and having a basal end. A casing houses the transmitter. A coupling fixture couples the casing and the valve stem. The coupling fixture includes a coupler coupled to the basal end of the valve stem, an anchor for anchoring the casing, and a connection for connecting the coupler and the anchor so that the coupling fixture is resilient. The angle between the coupler and the anchor is greater than a predetermined angle before the coupling fixture couples the casing and the valve stem.

  • Publication number: 20040211466
Abstract: An air filling device includes a first air chuck and a second air chuck. The first air chuck is fitted to a tire valve of a front wheel, and the second air chuck is fitted to a tire valve of a rear wheel. The air pressure of the front tire is set to, for example, 800 [kPa] with a first pressure regulator. When the carried load is maximum, the air pressure of the rear tire is set to, for example, 1000 [kPa] with a second pressure regulator. The pressure of the front wheel is adjusted using the first air chuck, and the pressure of the rear wheel is adjusted using the second air chuck. Since the air pressure of the front tire and the rear tire can be adjusted simultaneously, the period of time required for adjusting the air pressure is shortened.

  • Patent number: 6568259
Abstract: A transmitter includes a main body and a valve stem. The main body has a resin casing, which includes a cylinder. A metal cylindrical collar is inserted in the cylinder. An inserting section of the valve stem is inserted in the collar, and a nut is fastened to a threaded portion of the inserting section. Accordingly, the cylinder and the collar are clamped between a step of the valve stem and the nut. The fastening force of the nut is applied mainly to the collar, thus barely affecting the cylinder. As a result, the valve stem is reliably attached to the main body in a stable manner.

  • Patent number: 6505507
Abstract: A tire air pressure monitoring apparatus includes a plurality of transmitters provided in respective tires on a vehicle and a receiver mounted on the body frame of the vehicle. Each transmitter radio-transmits data regarding the internal air pressure of the associated tire. The receiver receives radio-transmitted data from each transmitter. The receiver displays the received data on a display and stores the data in a non-volatile memory. When a request signal from a predetermined external communication apparatus is received, the receiver radio-transmits data stored in the non-volatile memory to the external communication apparatus. This allows various kinds of data such as air pressure data to be easily loaded from the receiver to the external communication apparatus.
