The medium process apparatus comprises a state detection unit configured to detect a state of a transferring medium and a support unit configured to support the transferring medium. The support unit comprises a plurality of support parts successively disposed in a transfer direction of the medium. The plurality of support parts comprise a second support part facing the state detection unit and a first support part disposed at a front or rear side of the second support part in the transfer direction of the medium.

Abstract: Disclosed is a medium recognition apparatus for determining the type of a medium by using color information obtained by scanning the inserted medium, as well as a method for determining the type of a medium by using the apparatus. Color information and size information obtained by scanning only a partial region of a medium image, the hue of the medium image scanned by the image sensor, or RGB channel color information scanned by the color sensor is compared with pre-stored reference information to determine the type of the medium. This guarantees that the type of the medium is determined quickly and accurately based on simple comparing results.

Abstract: A method for establishing a communication channel between a local computer and an Internet server for facilitating a user of the local computer having an information storage medium to access the Internet server providing additional services related to contents stored in the medium in order to receive such additional services. The method supports an establishment of the communication channel between a client computer capable of accessing an information storage medium which stores predetermined information contents and a connection information including medium identification data and a first remote server providing services related to the information contents through a open communication network. The second remote server receives a connection authentification request message from the client computer through the open communication network, which message includes the medium identification data.
