Publication number: 20220233695Abstract: An ultrasound system for use in unbinding an active agent from a plasma protein in a target site in a subject includes a transducer configured to generate acoustic pressure waves and a controller coupled to the transducer. The controller is programmed to control the transducer to produce a plurality of pulsed acoustic pressure waves in the target site of the patient. The plurality of pulsed acoustic pressure waves disrupt a plasma protein binding between the active agent and the plasma protein within the target site. The disruption of the plasma protein binding causes an increase in an amount of unbound active agent in the target site.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 5, 2020Publication date: July 28, 2022Inventors: Seung-Schik YOO, Alexander ROTENBERG

Publication number: 20210386293Abstract: A system comprises an ultrasound subsystem and a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) subsystem. The ultrasound subsystem applies pulses of focused ultrasound having one or more parameters to an identified location in a subject that is to receive treatment. The parameters are determined in accordance with a magnetic resonance guided focused ultrasound (MRgFUS) treatment plan. The MRI subsystem acquires functional image data corresponding to the identified location concurrently with the applied pulses of focused ultrasound. The MRI subsystem obtains a reconstructed series of functional images of the subject using the functional image data. The functional images are indicative of a first region within the identified location in which neuronal activity has been modified by the applied pulses. The system is configured to adjust one or more parameters of the MRgFUS treatment plan using the reconstructed series of functional images.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 27, 2021Publication date: December 16, 2021Inventors: Seung-Schik Yoo, Alexander Bystritsky, Nathan McDannold, Ferenc A. Publication number: 20200000428Abstract: Provided are a medical headgear which may be worn on a skull of an object while an ultrasound transducer is supported thereby, and the headgear according to an embodiment of the present disclosure may closely adhere and support an ultrasound transducer to the skull of the object regardless of the size and shape of the skull of the object and a position of the brain to which ultrasound needs to be transmitted. According to the medical headgear as described above, the ultrasound transducer supported on the headgear may be moved to a specific position on the skull, regardless of the position of the brain to which ultrasound needs to be transmitted, and thus, the use convenience of a user may be improved.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 11, 2019Publication date: January 2, 2020Applicant: NEUROSONA CO., LTD.Inventors: Ji Yeun KIM, Jeong Hyeon PARK, Seoung Won SHIN, Seung Schik YOO

Patent number: 9592409Abstract: A method for modifying neuronal activity in a subject with focused ultrasound pulses (“FUP”) is provided. Such a methods is applicable for research, treatment, and diagnosis of psychiatric, neurological, and neuroendocrine disorders whose biological mechanisms include neuronal circuits in the brain. The application of focused ultrasound pulses is generally via multiple ultrasound transducers that are housed in a cap worn by the subject. The application of FUP at different tone burst duration, total sonication duration, and pulse repetition frequency settings results in either the inducement of either an increase or decrease in neuronal activity.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 2010Date of Patent: March 14, 2017Assignees: The Regents of the University of California, Brigham and Women's HospitalInventors: Seung-Schik Yoo, Alexander Bystritsky, Nathan McDannold, Ferenc A.
