  • Patent number: 10279318
Abstract: Carbon nanotube membranes that are flexible, non-fragile, stable at high temperatures, superhydrophobic, have submicrometer openings, and are resistant to delamination and corrosive conditions are provided. The carbon nanotube membranes comprise carbon nanotubes grown on a microporous, metal substrate, e.g. silver, quartz fiber filter, and HAST. Methods of fabricating the carbon nanotubes are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20140165455
Abstract: A composition includes a porous carbon substrate; a hydrocarbon gas; a sealant configured to retain the hydrocarbon gas with at least a portion of the porous carbon substrate. Such a composition is known as a carbon-hydrocarbon gas composite. Another composition includes the carbon-hydrocarbon gas composite and fuel. Such fuels include diesel.

  • Publication number: 20060157419
Abstract: The invention is directed to methods for improving the DOM uptake of granular activated carbons and the carbons formed according to the methods. The methods include treating starting materials so as to provide a combination of physical and chemical characteristics favorable for DOM uptake. Particular methods utilized depend upon the characteristics of the starting materials but generally include at least one of: increase in surface area of the materials found in pores greater than 1 nm; increase in overall basicity of the materials; and impregnation of the materials with an iron species. The processed materials exhibit improved uptake of DOM from natural waters as compared to previously known GAC materials.
