  • Patent number: 9056160
Abstract: A peristaltic pump includes a plurality of effecters, actuated in a periodic manner upon by obstructive forces of a flexible infusion tube so as flow of infusion fluid is provided along said infusion tube, the magnitude of the obstructive forces being dependent upon the displacement of said moving effecters; and a plurality of balancing magnets providing balancing forces upon one or all the moving effecters, the balancing forces at each point along the path of motion of the moving effecters being of approximately equal magnitude to that of the obstructive forces at the point; such that the parasitic output due to work performed against the obstructive forces is approximately zero and yield is maximized.

  • Patent number: 8920144
Abstract: A peristaltic pump includes a conduit having a first end for receiving a fluid from a reservoir and a second end for delivering the fluid. A plurality of fingers are disposed at respective locations along a segment of the conduit and are configured to alternately compress and release the conduit at the locations. A cyclical pump mechanism is coupled to move the fingers between respective compressed and released positions in a spatio-temporal pattern so as to drive a predetermined quantity of the fluid through the segment of the conduit in each pump cycle. A motor is coupled to drive the pump mechanism. A controller is coupled to activate and deactivate the motor in alternation during each pump cycle with a duty cycle that varies within the pump cycle.

  • Publication number: 20140378901
Abstract: The present invention includes systems, devices and methods for mechanically interfacing between a pump and an infusion kit or conduit, and methods and materials for producing same. According to some embodiments of the present invention, there may be provided a mechanical pump-tube interface unit adapted to detachably connect to a pump. The mechanical pump-tube interface unit may be adapted to hold a fluid conduit/tube positioned such that when the interface is attached to a pump the pumping mechanism of the pump acts upon the fluid in the tube. A mechanical pump-tube interface unit may include physical adaptations designed to prevent longitudinal and/or rotational movement, in relation to the unit, of a fluid conduit/tube held by or attached to the interface unit. According to further embodiments, a segment of conduit/tube may be attached/connected to a mechanical tube-interface during the assembly of the interface unit, to form one integral unit including the conduit/tube segment secured/trapped within.

  • Publication number: 20100036322
Abstract: The invention discloses an anti-free flow mechanism for a finger-type peristaltic infusion pump (DDS) comprising: a passive mechanical interface (MS) which integrally accommodates a portion of a flexible infusion-tube, and an anti-free flow valve (AFFV) which is a spring-activated latch incorporated with the (MS). The maneuverable latch is secured in the (MS) either in a closed or opened configuration: in its closed configuration no flow is provided and in its opened configuration, a free flow is facilitated. The anti-free flow is configured in a manner that when the (MS) is not properly mounted in the (DDS), the (AFFV) is automatically actuated to its closed configuration, and vice versa that when the (MS) is properly mounted in the (DDS), the latch is adapted to be automatically switched to the opened configuration The invention also presents methods for avoiding anti-free flow in finger-type peristaltic infusion pumps.
