  • Patent number: 11980600
Abstract: Described is a method of diagnosis or prognosis of preeclampsia in a pregnant subject, comprising providing a sample from a pregnant subject and measuring the ratio between the amount of (a) one or both of sFlt-1 and PlGF, and (b) one or both of a breakdown product of heme and a breakdown product of arginine, in the sample. Also described are assay kits and a computer adapted for use in the method. Also described is a method of treating preeclampsia, comprising administering a pharmaceutically effective amount of L-arginine and/or citrulline and an inhibitor of arginase or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. Also described is a method of treating cancer, comprising treating a subject with a therapeutically effective amount of an anti-VEGF compound, L-arginine and an arginase inhibitor.

  • Publication number: 20230194357
Abstract: A temperature probe for determining the temperature according to the three-point probe method includes a three-wire line several meters long consisting of a first connecting line, a second connecting line, and a third connecting line connected to sensor element. The connecting lines are made of a first material and serve to transmit energy and the measured temperature values. A conductive element made of a second material is inserted in the second connecting line and in the third connecting line. The resistivity of said second material is higher than the resistivity of the first material. The two inserted conductive elements are designed in such that the second connecting line and the third connecting have the same resistance as the first connecting line. Additionally, the present disclosure refers to a method describing the manufacture of a temperature probe.

  • Publication number: 20220092447
Abstract: A model-based functional hazard assessment (FHA) is disclosed. A disclosed example apparatus for generating a model-based FHA associated with a product includes an associator to associate a function of the product to a failure condition to define a first association, and associate a hazard assessment with the failure condition to define a second association, and associate a safety requirement with the hazard assessment to define a third association. The apparatus also includes an organizer to generate the FHA based on the first, second, and third associations. Disclosed examples include automated FHA data validation capabilities.

  • Patent number: 10576301
Abstract: A fluorescing marker is used in order to mark (for example) a leaf of a multi-leaf collimator and/or the reference points within the field of view. The markers are illuminated with light tuned to cause the markers to fluoresce at a wavelength different to that of the illuminating light. The fluorescence is then detected by a camera. This method allows the image to be captured by the camera with increased contrast. Accordingly, the present invention provides a multi-leaf collimator for a radiotherapeutic apparatus, comprising at least one leaf having a fluorescent marker. The fluorescent marker will usually emit light of a wavelength longer than the incident light, allowing suitable filters to be provided in order to distinguish the light emitted by the markers. A suitable material for use in the fluorescent markers is ruby. The present invention also provides a radiotherapeutic apparatus comprising a multi-leaf collimator as defined above, and a camera arranged to view the fluorescent markers.

  • Publication number: 20110275563
Abstract: The present invention is based upon the surprising discovery that Connective Tissue Growth Factor (CTGF) may act directly on the heart as a cardioprotective factor and provides CTGF for use in the treatment of a subject who has incurred or is incurring damage to the heart, wherein said CTGF is for administration during or after the heart-damaging event. The invention also relates to CTGF for use in protection of the heart during or after surgery or during ex vivo transportation or storage of an explanted heart.

  • Publication number: 20070006152
Abstract: Code information is marked by tags and tags are embedded into pieces of code or files called “codetags” that map tags to pieces of code. These tags can then be updated, searched, sorted, recombined, and tracked, among many other feedback mechanisms. These tags and their feedback mechanisms help to illuminate the engineering metadata and business metadata of pieces of code so as to help engineering management and business management of companies to better guide their software resources.

  • Publication number: 20030177417
Abstract: A server has a memory and an analyzer. The memory stores a library of symptom descriptions, a library of corresponding diagnoses, a library of corresponding remedies, and a library of corresponding probes. The analyzer is coupled to the memory and has an identifier, a comparator, and a reiterater. The identifier identifies at least one symptom of an application to be probed based on an input. That input can either be a user input describing the symptoms of the application or symptoms previously already identified. The comparator compares the symptoms of the application with the library of symptom descriptions. The reiterator reiteravely operates the identifier on the comparator until the symptoms correspond with a diagnosis from the library of corresponding diagnoses.

  • Publication number: 20020158770
Abstract: An apparatus and method for communicating configuration information are disclosed. A live insertion device has a status, or configuration, such as a state of readiness to be removed from a powered up computer and a state of readiness to operate. The removal readiness may include factors such as whether the live insertion device is related to ongoing processes, such that immediate removal would cause errors. The operational readiness may includes factors such as whether the relevant software is ready and whether the live insertion device can function. The live insertion device also has a seating state, such as whether the live insertion device is properly physically positioned in or coupled to the computer. Prior to an attempt at removing and/or operating the live insertion device, the configuration state of the live insertion device can be verified via an indicator that receives the configuration information about the live insertion device.
