  • Publication number: 20240141800
Abstract: A thermoelectric generator for a turbine engine is provided. The turbine engine can include a core having a casing surrounded by an engine cowl. The thermoelectric generator is attached to or formed integrally with the casing. The thermoelectric generator includes a power generation module formed by a plurality of thermocouples that utilize a temperature differential between a hot side and a cold side of the casing to generate electrical power. In one aspect, an electrically insulative layer is positioned between the casing and the power generation module. In another aspect, the thermoelectric generator includes a phase change material pack that includes an inner layer and an outer layer, the power generation module being positioned between the inner layer and the outer layer. In other aspects, the thermoelectric generator can be additively manufactured on the casing or another structural component of the turbine engine.

  • Patent number: 11458806
Abstract: An air handling system of a vehicle comprises a housing defining an inlet section. The inlet section includes a recirculation inlet in fluid communication with a passenger compartment of the vehicle and a fresh air inlet in fluid communication with an ambient environment. An air distribution door is disposed in the inlet section for controlling a distribution of air entering the inlet section through the recirculation inlet and the fresh air inlet. A baffle door is disposed in the inlet section for selectively reducing a flow area through the fresh air inlet to accommodate a ram air pressure induced by motion of the vehicle relative to fresh air of the ambient environment.

  • Patent number: 10688970
Abstract: An air-handling system for a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system of a vehicle includes a main housing comprising a conditioning section, a mixing section, and a delivery section having a flow of air passing therethrough. The delivery section includes a conduit branching into a windshield defrost pathway and a demist pathway, the windshield defrost pathway leading to windshield defrost vents of a passenger compartment of the vehicle and the demist pathway leading to side window defrost vents of the passenger compartment. A control door rotatably disposed in the conduit is adjustable through a range of rotational positions wherein a flow area through the windshield defrost pathway is variably restricted while the demist pathway remains unobstructed. The control door is further adjustable to a position wherein the windshield defrost pathway and the demist pathway are closed.

  • Publication number: 20160162811
Abstract: Disclosed is a system for facilitating remote check-in to a user in a room, of a hotel, booked by the user. A booking detail receiving module receives booking details pertaining to a room, of a hotel, from a user. The booking details may comprise reservation details, hotel details, and personal details. A validation module validates the booking details against previously stored booking details. A unique reservation code module generates a unique reservation code when the room is available for the specific period of time. The unique reservation code module further transmits the unique reservation code to the user. A verification module verifies the unique reservation code and the booking details. An acknowledgment transmission module transmits an acknowledgment to the user upon verifying the unique reservation code and the booking details. In one aspect, the acknowledgment indicates details of the room that has been allotted to the user.

  • Patent number: 9180552
Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for identifying a defect in a weld joint through an X-Ray image. An image capturing module captures the X-Ray image of the weld joint. The X-Ray image comprises dark areas and bright areas. An image processing module executes a gamma correction algorithm on the X-Ray image by using a standard power law transform in order to enhance contrast of the dark areas and the bright areas. The image processing module further passes the X-Ray image through one or more de-noising filters in order to remove noise from the X-Ray image. An analysis module identifies a fragment of the X-Ray image that comprises one or more dark area with respect to neighboring areas adjacent to the one or more dark area. The analysis module further segments the X-Ray image into one or more segments in order to identify the defect in the weld joint.
