Also disclosed is a process for preparing 3-(2-sulfoethyl) hexanedioic acid, sodium salt by oxidizing 4-(2-sulfoethylcyclohexane)-1,2 diol sodium salt with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of tungstic acid.
