  • Publication number: 20030056181
Abstract: Presented is a system that takes a formula in single line form in spreadsheets and other programming environments and converts it into two dimensional mathematical notation. The conversion takes place at the level of a single line as entered in the programming environment or at the level of multiple lines by recursively substituting variables to build up a formula which has been sub-divided. Symbolic names are assigned to formulas and input values used by formulas to give formulas more meaning when the formulas are being debugged. Complicated formulas that are too complex for the programming environment to handle, too difficult to maintain or extend in the programming environment, or too time-consuming for the programming environment to execute are solved in an independent module capable of solving the complicated formulas and the solution is linked to the programming environment.

  • Patent number: 4306293
Abstract: The individual energy monitor in a multiple unit complex includes means for measuring the temperature differential at the inlet and outlet of each consuming unit. An on-site microprocessor functioning as a muliple meter unit is coupled to all such consuming units and stores the temperature differential with appropriate processing to record the heat usage during a known time. The microprocessor meter can store the individual energy usage of many consuming units and can be remotely or locally interrogated for purposes of collecting of the necessary data when and as required for billing and the like with equitable allocation of costs among the units based on such individual energy usage. The microprocessor meter continuously, sequentially and cyclically reads the inlet/outlet temperature sensors.

  • Patent number: 4080009
Abstract: The invention provides a hydraulically sealed, variable stiffness servostatic bearing system for use in machine tools and between any other loaded surfaces. Bearing pads operate between two relatively movable surfaces. A pilot valve senses changes in the bearing surface spacing and communicates by pressure variations with a diaphragm controlled restrictor valve. The diaphragm controlled restrictor valve apportions proper amounts of hydraulic fluid at proper pressure to the bearing pads. The combination results in a bearing system the stiffness of which is adjustable from positive to infinite to negative by the source hydraulic pressure to the diaphragm restrictor valve. A lift bladder and a modular bearing pad assembly to facilitate easy and quick installation and removal of bearing pads are also described.
