  • Patent number: 11986566
Abstract: A system includes a container configured to hold one or more items contaminated with a contaminant. The system also includes a power amplifier configured to output radio frequency (RF) energy at a frequency substantially equal to a resonant frequency of the contaminant. The system further includes a horn connected to the power amplifier and configured to propagate the RF energy along a length of the container and through the one or more items to deactivate, damage, or destroy the contaminant by molecular resonance. In addition, the system includes an RF absorbing liner disposed on interior surfaces of the container and configured to absorb and reduce reflection of at least some of the RF energy.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 2, 2020
Date of Patent: May 21, 2024
    Assignee: Raytheon Company
Inventors: Angelo M. Puzella, Joseph T. Mossoba, Sharon A. Elsworth, John Sangiolo

  • Patent number: 7767296
Abstract: A high strength, high modulus structural fabric product and the method of manufacturing the product are disclosed. The incorporation of a specific fiber/fabric treatment coupled with a resin impregnation and coating process produces a composite material. This composite material comprises high strength and modulus fibers embedded in and linked to a matrix. The resulting fabric product is useable in the formation of seamed structures, which carry and distribute high-level loads under extreme environmental conditions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 27, 2008
Date of Patent: August 3, 2010
    Assignee: Raytheon Company
Inventors: Sharon A. Elsworth, Marvin I. Fredberg, William H. Fossey, Jr., Stuart Press, Thad H. Fredrickson
  • Patent number: 7560400

  • Patent number: 6911955
Abstract: A high strength flexible fabric structure including a plurality of flexible fabric sections, each section including a plurality of plies of alternating fiber orientation. A joint is located between adjacent sections. The plies of each section are offset to form a uniform thickness seam between the two sections without any overlap of plies of like fiber orientation.
